They had fallen asleep again in each other's arms. Emma had returned home from working at the station and there they were. Her parents. The people she had thought so little of, cuddled in the couch with a little intruder. Their ten year old grandson who just shined with happiness thanks to this new found family.

But for her it wasn't as easy. She had been friends with Mary Margaret first... guess now it was Snow?Or was it Mom? She wasnt really sure but it had been over a months since she had started living with them as much as she wanted to show them how much she loved them or wanted to love them. Her walls were up as strong as ever.

"Emma?" James opened his eyes and looked at her worriedly. His right arm had fallen asleep from the weight. He moved slowly to be able to sit.

"I didn't mean to wake you" she said whispering as he offered her a smile. She saw Henry's book on the ground and smirked.

"It's fine" James said awkwardly "We were just..."

"Doing light reading?" James stood up as Henry stirred a bit. Father and daughter watched Henry and Snow sleep for a moment.

"I suppose" James said scratching the back of his head nervously "I should... take them to bed" Emma nodded as she watched him pick up Henry first. Emma followed him to her room where he settled the boy on one side of the bed and touched his cheek gently. "Children are amazing" James said absent minded "Even in all around madness they still manage to sleep peacefully ... you stayed like that for a little while when your mother and I first had you with us" This was new information Emma had never heard before.. Had they really held her? She nodded only processing what he had said and he then proceed to get Snow. Emma watched from the door as James picked his wife up adoringly. She automatically settled against his chest, trusting he was not going to let her fall.

"She really loves you, doesn't she?" Emma said as her father returned to her side. "Quite a love story you guys have"

"Books are just that" James said smiling. This were actually the first moments they had had alone since they had found each other, at first Emma didnt feel okay with James going home with them because the last recollection she had had of him was as David and she really resented him, but... it made Snow happy and if she was really honest at some level she had always felt a connection to David. "They omit some things"

"Yeah I guess" Emma said resting her back on the wall. James smiled.

"You should get to bed" He said tenderly "All will still be here tomorrow"

"I am not sure about that" Emma said bluntly "If I know Regina..."

"The best thing you can do right now is to go to bed... rest" James concurred "I am sorry"

"For what?" She asked looking into his eyes.

"You are not a child" James blushed "I should learn not to treat you like one"

"You.. I've seen you worry like that about everyone" Emma said sweetly "I don't mind... much..."

"Are you sure?" He asked shyly as a smile formed on his lips "I just want you to know that your mother and I... are just really happy to have you back... and Henry was a little surprise..."

"Yeah" Emma froze by the sweetness and love in his voice "I am.. happy too"

"Good" James smiled "I guess we should go to bed now"

"Yes" Emma turned away to enter the room "Hey" her father turned around almost instantly.

"Maybe someday.. you can tell me all about those stories books have wrong" James's excitement was hard to control but he kept himself calmed.

"Of course" He smiled "Whenever you want"

"Good night" She said almost closing the door behind her. James rested his back on the door once Emma had closed hers.

"Good night baby girl" There would be time for those stories but the request alone had given him something he never thought he would have after he had lost her. Hope.
