*Not a companion fic for any other RanXGin fics I have

Just what I thought could have passed through Rangiku's mind.

Disclaimer: I do not own.

'So it's finally come down to this, huh, Gin…?'

Rangiku kept her glare steadfast at Aizen, while trying her best to keep her gaze off of the silver haired man who stood not too far behind the corrupt man. Her pulse began to beat rapidly against her flushed skin as emotions flooded her heart.

Anger.

'Was I that easy to walk away from, Gin?'

Sorrow.

'You only said bye… and then you were gone.'

Fear.

'Will you kill me, Gin?'

Hatred.

'You left me, Gin. You promised me you would protect me.'

Love.

'I thought that what we had was something special.'

Acceptance.

'But here we are; our swords at ready. We stand on opposites sides of the battlefield.'

She stiffened as Aizen took a step forward, curiously looking around his surroundings.

'I'll follow my captain…'

She looked to her captain, her heart swelling up with pride when she saw that he stood firm and tall before their enemy.

'While you follow yours… Gin….'

She looked back to their enemy.

The war was starting.

'There is no turning back no more… Gin.'

She wasn't so sure of what to feel as she fell from the sky, injured and bleeding. It was hard to breathe, she realized numbly. It was a few seconds later that she realized she was bleeding from her side… and that a part of her abdomen had been ripped off.

'Gin…'

Her blue eyes strayed to the huge circle of fire not too far from where she was. Her view of the fire was covered as she fell steadfast downwards, her hair rippling with the wind.

'Even though I knew you wouldn't come save me…'

Distantly, she can hear Momo's frantic voice sounding off a Bakudo, but she feels far away… so far away…

'I was a fool… to believe deep down in my heart… that you would come for me any ways…'

She felt something stretch beneath her body, stopping her fall. She watched with empty eyes as Momo approached her, panic in her eyes.

'I think… both Hinamori and I will die here… I'm sad Gin…'

Hinamori assured her that she'd begin healing her promptly, though her voice shook.

'I'm sad that…'

Her blue eyes strayed to the tall, leaning, bulky figure behind the petite shinigami kneeling in front of her. Momo's eyes widened as the shadow fell over them both, and shakily, turned around, only to see the towering monster 'Akon,' moments before she was slammed away by his fist.

Rangiku closed her eyes in defeat.

'I'm sad that… you won't be the one who kills me….'
