Wind Beneath My Wings
Yugi looked back on everything Yami had done for him without recognition and he began to think of the lyrics of a song.
It must've been cold there
In my shadow
To never have some light
On your face.
Yugi could never remember Yami ever having a problem with being anonymous.
You were content to let me shine

A step behind.
Yami only used his own name once, after much prompting from Yugi, he otherwise let Yugi take all the credit.
I was the one

Yugi always looked up to Yami and Yami seemed to truly care about Yugi.

To hide the pain.
Yami was truly Yugi's hero.

Yugi in a way felt that Yami felt his contributions had gone unnoticed because no one acknowledged it.
It might have appeared
To go unnoticed

Yugi knew in his heart he should thank Yami for everything he's done.

Yugi pulled out a sheet of paper and wrote.

Yami later came across the note and smiled as he read it. He knew Yugi would check back later to see if he had read the note.
"It was no problem for me, and Yugi, thank you for caring about me, and giving me more chances than anyone else would have – Yami" He had spoke it aloud as he wrote, he turned suddenly to see Yugi nearby smiling softly, typically.
Yugi had on occasion thought Yami would leave, because he had been getting no gratitude for everything he did, but this made Yugi see, he had a permanent friend in Yami. Yugi needed to know that Yami, his closest true friend wouldn't leave him, Yugi put his arms around Yam and asked, no begged him to stay, Yugi was surprised when Yami hugged him.
"I'd never leave my friends, especially not you" he whispered.
"Thank you"
"No problem."
