A short oneshot of RanXGin. (:
In honor of Christmas of course ~ ^_^ (I know, I know, it's Christmas Even in the story :P)
Disclaimer: I do not own.
Rangiku stared out the window of her tiny office. She could hear the mindless chatter of her tiny captain with the cute lieutenant of the 5th Squad, who had been allowed outside her hospital room just for tonight – Christmas Eve. The smell of hot cocoa drifted into her cozy office, tempting her to join her friends in the next room.
Surprisingly, she had refused the friendly invitation from her captain the Hinamori, whose puppy dog eyes and pout had no effect on her busty friend. Instead, she had given them a forced smile, saying she had lots of work to catch up on. And even though Hitsugaya knew that there was no work left for the 10th Division lieutenant to do, he had a feeling it was better to let Matsumoto be.
It was, after all, Christmas Eve.
The snow drifted downwards from the heavens slowly. Rangiku allowed herself to doze of slightly, slouching on the cold, leather couch that was stationed by the frosty window. She dug her nails into the knitted quilt that was placed on her shoulders, and tugged it closer to her body, trying to keep warm.
'Christmas Eve, huh…?'
She closed her eyes, smiling sadly for a moment. She reopened her eyes to glance outside once more, before sighing, her breathe foggy with the cold.
"Maybe I should ask taicho to turn on the heater…." she grumbled slightly.
Unfortunately, the heaters in the 9th, 10th, and 11th HQs were broken. Glaring at the snow, she could only blame the frozen pipes.
She stood up, a sad smile on her face once more. She clutched her quilt tighter and began walking out.
Something stopped her for just a second – a quick second – to make her turn around and look at the window once more.
What she saw surprised her.
There on the window, where her cold breathe had fallen upon, stood an image, still there from it's olden days, the oils from the fingers of two love-stricken teenagers still holding up.
A faded heart with two names that still stood out stood in plain view to Rangiku.
'Gin… + Rangiku… huh….'
Closing her eyes once more, she opened them with a happy smile for once, and exited the room to join her friends.
'Merry Christmas… Gin.'
