" I still love you..." the blonde young adult admitted looking away from the other. Her voice was soft, barely audible, yet he had heard every word.
He shook his head from the memory that had sat in the very back of his memory but would surface now and again when he felt the regret. He lie there in his room. The room dark yet the skylight allowed him to look to the stars above.
He rolled to his side looking across his room at the suit that hung on the outside of his closet door to ensure it wouldn't crease. Tomorrow was the day. He still couldn't believe it but deep in his heart he knew it was true no matter how much he hated it. He closed his eyes to try and sleep knowing the morning would come fast.
"I still love you...I always will...There will never be a part of me that will leave you...but I've grown and grown in love with another...but thank you...thank you for teaching" Her sky blue eyes turned to look at him now tears threatening to fall but she stayed strong. "thank you for teaching me how to love..."
He woke up with a gasp that filled his throat, as if an angry scream wanted to erupt. She was in his dreams often now. His dreams was the one place he could be with her, touch her, kiss her. The pain struck his lonely heart hard. He turned over trying to fall back asleep.
He sat in the pew looking at the front of the church covered with soft flowers and candles. It was picture perfect. His green eyes glanced over to the man that stood at the alter awaiting his beautiful bride. His hand reached to his chest where his heart sat inside beating painfully.
He wasn't sure what was said but a soft violin began to play and everyone rose to their feet. He turned to look at the back of the church as the double doors opened. His eyes filled with the vision of an angel in front of him and she walked towards him as if in slow motion. His breath stolen from him as she walked down the aisle. A small part of his mind screamed, begged and pleaded that she would see him and stop with this whole ordeal but the better part of him knew what he had to do. He had to let her go.
Arnold sat staring at his, now, empty glass. His fingers twisting the glass in a slow circle making the soft pink table cloth bunch around the bottom. A deep sigh left his lips as he looked out the window beside him. There they stood in the courtyard taking pictures to begin memories of a new family. He watched the blonde lift her head to the sky and close her eyes with a soft smile on her lips. Suddenly, a soft snow began to float down melting as it touched her warm skin. Her breath left her lips in a small cloud as she then looked at her newly wed husband.
He rose from his chair and walked to the exit. It was hard enough to be here but to see such heart warming moments was really hurting him. He grabbed his jacket and his scarf and walked into the crisp fresh November air. He needed to go home.
"Arnold?" a soft voice came floating to him on the cold air. He turned and looked at the bride. She was a sight to see and Arnold closed his eyes allowing the image to burn into his memory until he was ready to let it go.
"I didn't see you...thank you for coming it means a lot to me" Her words so sincere. Where had the bully gone? Either way he loved her and now it was too late as she was promised to another.
The snow fluttered down around them making Arnold smile softly at the other making the memory last. He walked over to her wrapping his arms around her shoulders as he felt her frame tense up.
"I only knew I loved you when I let you go..."Arnold whispered softly to her allowing his body to move away from hers feeling the pain intensifying but he didn't have the courage to look into her eyes as he completed his sentence. He turned to begin to walk away but spoke the next words over his shoulder.
"And I let you go..."
