A/N: Hi again. This is my third oneshot for the RoyEd challenge from fullmetal'sgirl92. This was something I half wrote a while ago and now finished. I did almost forget to post this, but I'm glad that I didn't post it a day late. Hope you enjoy.
Happy New Year!
Dedicated to Hofsiss. With good reason.

"I have a surprise for you," Roy suddenly said, coming up behind Ed and linking his arms around the smaller man's waist.
"Really?" the blond asked, tilting his head up to look at the general. "What for?"
"Have you forgotten already?" he replied teasingly, obsidian eyes glinting in amusement.
"Maybe," Ed shot back in a defensive tone. "A lot has been going on."
"And your birthday...?"
"My birthday was..." The older Elric broke off as he realized what Roy had said. "Oh shit! I forgot my own birthday!"
Roy laughed, nuzzling his neck. "Good thing I didn't forget your present."
Ed blushed. "So? What'd you get me?"
The black-haired man grinned. "You'll just have to see." He reached into his pocket and drew out a red cloth that he tied around Ed's eyes, intertwining his fingers with the automail and leading the way through his inner office - ignoring the knowing smirks that his subordinates shared - and out the door. He headed towards the dorms and stopped in front of his, producing a key and unlocking it to reveal the small room that he lived in occasionally.
"Roy?" His name was whispered hesitantly.
"Sit there," he said, placing his hands on the blond's shoulders and pushing him down onto the bed. Ed fidgeted, twisting his hands together.
"You can take off the blindfold now."
He raised his automail hand and carefully undid the knot, letting it fall onto his lap. He kept his eyes closed.
"Open your eyes, love," Roy's voice was playfully exasperated.
He obliged, and immediately his gaze was drawn to what his lover was holding. A small calico kitten blinked at him with large hazel eyes, mewing pitifully. His lips twitched, as though he were fighting a smile. "A cat, Roy?"
"Yes. I'd thought that you would like one." The general almost seemed disappointed, but he was hiding it well.
Ed sighed softly and looked up at Roy's face, grinning crookedly. "Haven't I always complained about cats trying to kill me when I was younger?"
Roy laughed despite himself. "Well, that was when you and Al were traveling. You couldn't possibly keep a pet and Al was still trying to take care of a kitten he found. But you haven't once yelled at your brother about cats and you even let him keep one. Have you changed your mind?"
Ed's grin broadened, lighting up his face. "Nope." He reached towards the kitten and held it in his lap, letting it rub its head against his hand as it started to purr happily. "Thank you, Roy." He lifted his gaze to Roy and grinned wickedly. "Now come here and give me a kiss."
The general smirked and leaned forward to let their lips meet. "So you really like her, don't you?"
"Love it."
