Brave One
Annabeth's POV
I looked up at the door, and then down at my watch, again. "Annabeth, it's gonna be okay. No big deal" said Percy. He had come with me to get a shot that I was scared to death to get. We were sitting in the waiting room for what I thought was well… way too long. "Sure, says the one who's NOT getting a 3 inch needle jabbed into their arm, dead cells of dangerous diseases being injected into your blood stream." I snapped. "Well, no." He said "But I'll be there for you the whole way." I took in a big breath, and clenched my fists as the door from the office opened. "Anna Beth Chase?" said a lady in a nurse's uniform. Percy stood up first, pulled me up and led me through the door. "Right down this hallway, it's the 3rd door on your left." Said the nurse, pointing. We went into the room and I sat on the patient's table in the middle of the room, and Percy stood next to me, holding my hand.
The doctor came in right away, and pulled out a needle and a band aid. "Hello Annabeth" said the doctor. "Ready to get this over with?" He pulled the cap off. I took in a deep breath and held Percy's hand tighter. I turned the other way and closed my eyes. "Wait!" said Percy. "What!" I whipped my head around so fast I heard it crack. I looked at Percy, his face pale and he actually looked nervous. "What are the risks of getting a shot?" He asked the doctor. "Well, err…. Everyone reacts to shots differently .The worst that could happen is that she get the symptoms of the flu. It would only last a few days, and she would be fine. That is, only if she reacts that way. It rarely happens." He said. "Are you sure?" Percy asked cautiously, his eyes narrowed, thumb in his pocket where he always keeps riptide. Like pulling out a huge celestial bronze sword will protect me from a flu shot. "Percy, I'm fine. I just wanna get this over with." "Okay, let's try this again." Said the doctor, as he lifted my sleeve again, and gripped the needle. Percy's grip on my hand was so tight, I barely noticed when the doctor peeled off the rapping of a band aid, and pressed it on the tiny hole in my shoulder. "Whoa, it's over? Did you give me the shot yet?" "Yep it's all over." He said. "That wasn't bad at all!" I said in surprise "well, you might want to tell your friend there." He said, pointing to the lump of Percy on the floor behind me. I hadn't even heard him fall. "Percy!" I said trying not to laugh. "Get up, seaweed brain." I said poking him. "What? Are you okay? Is it over, what the hell hound am I doing on the floor?" I laughed, "I think you can do without a flu shot for a while."
