Rating: PG-13 (If not this chapter, for later chapters)

Disclaimer: I sadly do not own any of these characters, except the ones I make up....and yeah. On with the story!

Chapter One

The cobblestone streets were drenched in the heavy rains of spring. Water was pouring into the drains at an alarming rate, yet still forming puddles in the middle of the road. The sky above was the most dismal shade of grey, making the afternoon seem as though it was already midnight. Next to no light was shining through the clouds, giving what little light appeared an eerie glow.

But I suppose, what else can you expect from a place where you're lucky to get one sunny day a week in May?

Flashback (Authors Note: Think Wayne's World scene at the end of the movie....doo da loo, doo da loo, doo da loo...anyways, back to the story)

Las Vegas Police Department was proud of its forensics team, being so high ranked in the country and all. They decided it was time to award them for their efforts and much-under-paid-over-time-work, but with budget cuts, their funds had been drastically reduced.

The bureau heads decided a vacation was in order, for the entire team. It had to be somewhere close, but somewhere drastically different than Vegas.

California was out, too much of the same weather system; Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah too for the same reason. Washington had completely different weather, but was too far away to send them. This left one last logical choice, Oregon.

Gil Grissom stood at the head of a small coffee table before his team. Catherine Willows stood by the counter, a pale blue coffee cup held in her delicate hand. Warrick Brown and Greg Sanders were seated on a torn up old couch, each clutching their own mug of Greg's special brew. Sara Sidle and Nick Stokes were sitting in chairs, a bit irked that Grissom had interrupted their game of paper football.

"Well," Grissom started off, "No assignments this morning. I received a note from the superiors; everyone goes on paid vacation starting tomorrow and lasting for a week. Evidently they're sending us to...Portland, Oregon."

A collective mutter of a mix of displeasure and joyfulness was emitted from the souls in the room. Sara was the first to react to the news.

"Why the hell are they doing this to us?" she asked, the only unhappy one of the lot. Grissom continued reading from the letter in his hand.

"Evidently as some sort of congratulations," he continued slowly. "All expenses paid vacation for all of our hard work. My advice to everyone, order a lot of pay-per-view movies. Now, everyone needs to be at the airport at 8:30 in the morning. No one later than that, team dismissed."

The joy in the break room would have barely been visible with a magnifying glass at that point. Catherine needed to find a sitter for Lindsay, Warrick was going to miss visiting his family, Nick needed to postpone his sister's visit, and the list could go on forever.

They all saw that there was nothing they could do at this point to get out of this vacation, whether they liked it or not

Yes, suckiness all around. Anyways, next chapter will be about the airplane ride, I'll either get that up tomorrow or tonight, whatever plunders my buried treasure. Anyways, please review and let me know what you think? Thanks
