An: I've felt a disconnect from my work so i felt I'd try to just write something, anything. I'm sure others have done this before, haven't really looked to find out. Let me know what you think.

For those waiting for part 2 of Let me Go I am still working on it . Hopefully you will not have to wait long.

Disclaimer: I do not own Mass Effect, or any of its characters!

Final Thoughts

In that one moment, just before your body catches up with your mind, you know. 'I am going to die here.'

It is in that moment that everything becomes clear. Your mistakes, your failures, your loses, everything becomes one large pink spotted elephant in the back of your mind. A mocking representation of everything that you were, that you could have changed, but didn't. Every decision, that you thought was solid, slowly becomes unwound as it all becomes clear, and possibilities that were once hidden become blatantly obvious.

As the hissing becomes less audible, stars seem to become faces of those that are being left behind. Faces that are slowly losing their meaning; a flash of sunlight on the purple hued helmet, a glaring blue eye piece accompanied by an amused chuckle, a large gruff form running ahead into the thick of battle, a young man holding his head across a room, a young woman scowling at the new crew member, and a shy girl held in your embrace.

Your mind tries to hold onto the meaning of theses images, things that feel important, that bring comfort. But your vision is tingling grey. Black blobs observing your field of view. You try to cry out for the fading faces, but there is no sound, no air..

And then... everything starts moving again, the moment lost as the suit that once fit like a glove becomes tight and uncomfortable and your lungs burn as they demand something that is no longer there to take.

'So, this is how it all ends...'

The panic sets in as it becomes painfully obvious that no help is coming. The one who normally does the saving is the one in need of it, and nobody is there to reach out to.

And just as the world comes into view everything stops; the pain and the memories no longer seem at odds, as they fade taking the annoying pachyderm with them.

Then, there is nothing but peace as darkness takes everything into itself, leaving no hint of what might have been there before...

"There. On the monitor. Something's wrong." Someone was speaking; someone who was female, but someone unfamiliar.

'...Maybe not.'
