Natsuki Kuga was recently hired to sing a song at a small concert. She didn't do much singing practice in the past, but she was excited to try something new.

A few days before the concert Natsuki was on a walk with her girlfriend, Shizuru Fujino. Natsuki didn't have a very confident look on her face while saying, "I'm not so sure that I'll do a good job at the concert."

Shizuru asked, "How could you fail at singing?"

Natsuki got nervous while saying, "I don't sing that often. I'm flattered that I was picked to sing at the concert, but I don't think that I have what it takes."

Shizuru gently lifted up Natsuki's chin and replied, "I believe in you with all my heart."

Natsuki smiled at Shizuru. She felt like Shizuru brought up her confidence and happiness whenever she was feeling down.

Shizuru kissed Natsuki and said, "I need to start heading home. I hope that you have a lovely evening."

Natsuki replied, "Thank you for the confidence boost Shizuru. Nobody gives me more comfort and compliments than you."

Shizuru replied, "Because nobody's more deserving of being complimented than you."

Natsuki smiled with embarrassment while saying, "You're the sweetest thing ever."

Shizuru smiled and said, "I love you."

Natsuki blushed and replied, "I love you too."

A few minutes later Yuuichi Tate walked up to Natsuki. Natsuki growled. Although Yuuichi tried to be a nice guy he often messed up and caused trouble. Natsuki thought about angrily asking what Yuuichi wanted, but she decided to be nice about it. She asked, "Can I help you?"

Yuuichi sweated nervously while asking, "Do you want to go out with me after the concert?"

Natsuki was surprised by how clueless Yuuichi was. Natsuki had been dating Shizuru for half a year, but Yuuichi didn't seem to fully realize that. Natsuki said, "I'm sorry, but I'm dating Shizuru so I can't date you."

Yuuichi nervously asked, "How about a friendship date?"

Natsuki raised her eyebrows and asked, "What does that mean?"

Yuuichi still sounded nervous while saying, "Two good friends hanging out, but not kissing or dating."

Natsuki sighed and said, "I'll think about it. Have a good evening." She started walking home.

Yuuichi looked disappointed while saying, "I wish that I could date Natsuki."

Reito Kanazaki walked by and said, "No need to be upset about that. I'm planning on ruining Natsuki's singing voice."

Yuuichi asked, "Why would you do that?"

Reito had an evil smile on his face while saying, "It's one of my sneaky plans. Natsuki will sing so bad that even Shizuru will mock her performance. After I ruin Natsuki's confidence I'll be able to defeat her more easily." He did an evil laugh.

A few days later Natsuki was about to walk onstage. It was a small concert that let random people in the city sing. The shallow man who hosted the concert only picked Natsuki to be one of the singers, but he was impressed by her looks.

The host walked onstage and said, "Our next singer is a lovely and beautiful young woman. She goes by the name Natsuki Kuga."

Natsuki walked onstage. Shizuru, Yuuichi, Reito, Natsuki's parents, and a few hundred other people were in the crowd. Natsuki was unaware that Reito switched the real microphone with a microphone that makes peoples' singing voices sound like nails on a chalkboard. Reito was the only one aware that Natsuki's singing voice was going to sound terrible so he had earmuffs on.

Natsuki's mom asked, "Are you excited to hear Natsuki sing?"

Natsuki's dad answered, "Whatever." He was distracted by his frustration of having to pay fifteen dollars for a ticket.

Natsuki grabbed the microphone and started singing. The crowd instantly noticed how badly Natsuki sounded. Natsuki's dad tried to borrow Reito's earmuffs, but Reito refused to let him use it.

After Natsuki's song was over a few people threw empty shoeboxes at her. She asked, "What's going on?"

The host answered, "Your eloquent looks don't make up for the fact that you sound terrible."

Natsuki walked up to her parents and asked, "How was my singing voice?"

Natsuki's mom was desperate to insult her daughter's singing voice. She nervously sweated while saying, "It had some problems, but it was okay."

Natsuki's dad replied, "The fifteen dollars that I spent on a ticket to this concert was wasted. I'll forgive you if you pay me back."

Natsuki sighed and said, "Whatever."

Natsuki walked up to Shizuru and said, "Everybody's been mocking my singing voice, but I have trust that you liked my performance."

Shizuru nervously replied, "I'm sorry darling, but it wasn't good."

Natsuki asked, "What do you mean?"

Shizuru was still recovering from the pain her ears had gone through so she wasn't speaking as kindly as she usually did. She said, "It's hard to explain it, but that was one of the roughest things that I ever heard."

Natsuki had a tear coming down her eye and asked, "How could you say that?"

Shizuru felt guilty while saying, "I'm sorry sweetheart."

Natsuki started walking away from Shizuru. She accidentally bumped into Yuuichi. Yuuichi said, "You have a very nice singing voice."

Natsuki replied, "Yeah right. Everybody thinks that I sound like a disaster."

Yuuichi responded, "It was a treat to hear the lovely sounds of your voice. People are too critical."

Natsuki asked, "Wanna go on that friendship thing you were asking me about a few days ago?"

Yuuichi smiled and answered, "Indeed I do. Lets go to a fast food place."

After Natsuki and Yuuichi walked away Reito said, "My evil microphone plan worked. A few more bad performances from this phony microphone should ruin her confidence for a long time."

Shizuru replied, "You're a fool for saying your plan out loud."

Reito got worried and said, "I better stop you so you don't help Natsuki get her confidence back." Reito tried to hurt Shizuru, but Shizuru punched him to the ground. The crowd members that hadn't left yet clapped.

Natsuki and Yuuichi went to a fast food restaurant. Natsuki asked, "How does the food taste?"

Yuuichi answered, "Not that crappy."

Natsuki lightly smiled and said, "That's not a very eloquent way of wording that."

Yuuichi replied, "I'm sorry."

Natsuki said, "No need to be sorry. You were the only one who reacted to my performance with kindness. Despite how sloppy you are I think that you have the potential to be something special."

Yuuichi felt proud of himself while replying, "Thank you. I'm hoping to win awards for being cool."

Natsuki wanted to make sure that Yuuichi's comments about her performance were honest. She asked, "How did I sound?"

Yuuichi answered, "Like a bucket of charm."

Natsuki raised her eyebrows and asked, "A bucket?"

Yuuichi answered, "People are like buckets. There's several buckets that look normal, but have the potential to hold lots of stuff in them. There's lots of people that seem ordinary, because they've been hiding their potential. You're one of those people."

Natsuki replied, "That's a weird way of wording it, but that means a lot to me."

Shizuru walked inside and explained to Natsuki what happened. Shizuru said, "It was Reito's fault for the poor quality of your voice. Your real voice always sounds lovely and I would never insult it."

Natsuki smiled and said, "Thank you Shizuru. I should of known that you'd never insult me."

Shizuru looked guilty while saying, "I hurt your feelings. I even saw you crying."

Natsuki replied, "You were giving your honest opinion. I was just so used to you sugarcoating everything to me."

Shizuru asked, "What do you mean?"

Natsuki answered, "You always exaggerate how good of a person I am and you compliment every single thing about me."

Shizuru smiled and said, "I wasn't sugarcoating. Every compliment that I've given you has been one hundred percent honest."

A happy tear fell down Natsuki's eye. She kissed Shizuru and said, "I love you so much."

Yuuichi whispered, "This night has been a bucket of disappointment."

Natsuki asked, "Can you walk me home?"

Shizuru answered, "Sure."

Natsuki shook Yuuichi's hand and said, "Thank you for complimenting me earlier. You're a good friend."

Yuuichi wasn't in a pleasant mood while saying, "You're welcome."

While walking home Natsuki started singing in her actual singing voice. Shizuru said, "That's one of the most beautiful sounds that my ears have ever heard."

Natsuki smiled and replied, "That seems fitting, because you're one of the most emotionally comforting things that my heart has ever experienced." Natsuki and Shizuru held hands and looked forward to the happiness they planned on giving to each other forever.
