Title: Never to be together.
She knew she and he could never be together. Even as she had this dream of living with him for the rest of her life. But she has a big responsibility to shoulder on. The lives of millions of people in her hands. She is not a simple woman. She is the representative of Orb Union, the leader of a country with millions of lives dependent on her leadership.
Cagalli Yula Athha can never afford to let her personal life, her love problems to risk the lives of millions. She cannot be selfish for her own happiness. She has to be sacrificial. With more power as a representative come more responsibilities for the lives and happiness of millions.
Her love never changed his loyalty. He always remains loyal to his birth country. He is a coordinator from PLANTS. Once a ZAFT soldier, always he will be. He can never be by her side when she needs him the most. Because the politics problems of Orb will always be linked with problems from OMNI and ZAFT. He cannot afford to betray ZAFT but can betray his own love, sacrifice his own happiness. Therefore, Cagalli did not think she cannot do what Athrun Zala did.
They can never be together.
Even more so when there is one who can be by her side, supporting her when she needs help. A man named Kenji Seiren. A man discarded by his family as he opposed their ideals in the start of the second war, acting actively in the rebuilding of Orb after the war, being by her side in the lateness of nights, falling in love with her, risking his life for her. What should she has asked for? A man loving her or a man she loves yet giving her the little pain?
She needs to choose. And choosing the man who loves her and supports her and her country is the best bet. One fortunate thing to happen to her will be that she can choose to hide her feelings for Athrun Zala deep in her heart, keeping the love to herself and letting no one take it away.
She loves him though they can never be together forever.
