Spongebob and Patrick were walking through Jellyfish Fields one bright day. For some strange reason, they weren't jellyfishing (Partially because Patrick had tried to use his as a toilet brush the day before. Then he forgot about the whole thing and tried to use it as a toothbrush!) It was a good day because it was Best Friends Day.
"Patrick, will we always be friends?" Spongebob asked innocently.
"Well I would think so" Patrick said.
"What if you were forced to leave town forever, then would we still be friends?" Spongebob asked.
"Well, I would hope we could be pen pals. But that would only work if I could use a pen" Patrick said thoughtfully. "Why all of the questions?"
"You know, I was just thinking. I mean, I can't imagine spending Best Friends Day any way else. Well maybe I can imagine spending it Jellyfishing but, you know, the net incident!" Spongebob chuckled at the memory. He looked over to see Patrick sticking a jellyfishing net into his mouth, trying to use it as a toothpick.
"It won't fit!" Patrick yelled in anger. He threw his net on the ground. "Stupid toothpick!" Spongebob chuckled.
"We're here!" he said, gesturing to a giant rock. Upon closer inspection, the rock had small carvings in it. One roughly resembled a sponge, and the other roughly resembled a starfish. There was a table, and tally marks under it. Spongebob took a small hammer and screwdriver out of his pocket. He added a new tally mark.
"Ah ha! Another year of our friendship in the books of history!" he said.
"Yay!" Patrick cheered. Spongebob took out a camera. He lightly tapped a passing jellyfish on the head.
"Excuse me Mr. Jellyfish sir?" Spongebob said. "Could you take a picture of me and my best friend?" he asked. The jellyfish reluctantly grabbed the camera with two of its stingers. Spongebob and Patrick smiled in front of the rock and the jellyfish took the picture. It gave Spongebob the camera back.
"Thanks!" he called after it. The photo slowly slid out of the camera. He grabbed it and put it in a scrapbook titled "Best Friends Day". He looked through all of the photos, all the way back to when they were in school together. He giggled as he looked at the photos.
"That's a lot of years!" Patrick said in awe.
"Yeah, and there will be many more!" Spongebob said cheerfully. The two buddies stood and looked at the scrapbook until the sun sank below the horizon.
