Hey everyone. This is for the August Writing Club Character Appreciation on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I wrote for prompt 17 which was the word apology. This is a little story this supposed to take place after the Battle of Hogwarts. I can actually imagine this conversation actually happening. Also I would like to warn about the mention of character death. I hope you all enjoy the story. So without further ado here is Just a Little Chat.
It had been years since we had last seen each other. Percy and I. I could tell that time had been a little harsh to the man who now sat in front of me. I looked him over and could see he had changed a lot since our last year at Hogwarts.
"Hello, Percy," I said trying to break him out of his dark thoughts. It wasn't a few hours ago that his younger brother Fred had just died.
He jumped startled to hear someone talk to him. Looking up he sighed thinking it was one of his family. "Hello, Oliver," he said letting how tired he felt seep into his voice.
"You look like you could use someone to talk to," I said sitting next to the humbled man in front of me.
"I don't think I can talk about what's going on. I mean what can I say. I acted like my family was a burden to me for two years and then made up with them just in time for Fred to die." Percy sighed again. I knew this was his way of trying to hold his feelings inside. "I didn't even get a chance to apologize to them all properly."
I laughed hearing this.
He gave me a harsh look hearing me laugh at the statement he had just made. "What is so funny about that?" he asked harshly.
"Their your family," I said as though this explained everything perfectly. And in my mind it did. It explained it all perfectly fine.
"So?"
"Percy, they don't need an apology from you. They know you are sorry for you did. They don't need you say anything just go and be part of the family again."
Percy gave me a look as though this thought had never once crossed his mind. What did he think he did that was so unforgivable that the Weasley's wouldn't take him back now?
"Do you really think so Oliver?" he asked hesitantly, as though he was still the boy I'd first met in first year.
I nodded firmly at him. "I know so," I told him. "Their your family. They love you. Go be with them."
He nodded and started to walk away from me. Halfway to the door he turned around and looked back me. "Oliver, thank you," he said with a sad smile on his face. "You said exactly what I needed to hear." With that said he went off in search of his family.
"Your welcome," I whispered after his retreating back. This had turned out to be a long day perhaps I'd find my family and tell them about what had just happened but first a nap. Laying down on the bench that I was sitting on I closed my eyes praying sleep would come.
I hope you all enjoyed Just a Little Chat. I have to say I'm glad that Oliver Wood and Percy Weasley are the character for Character Appreciation because they are two of my favorite characters in the whole series. I look forward to writing more about them.
