Freed looked at the grave as all the memories replayed through his mind.
The day they met. Letters they exchanged. Kisses. 'I love you's. But most of all, that one fight they had right before she went on that dreaded mission. Every word he had said he wished he could take back. Why did it have to be her?
He felt the rain come down as it mixed with his tears. "Why did I say it?" he asked quietly as he felt Laxus and the other members of the Thunder Legion approach. "Why did I have to fight with her?"
Laxus said nothing. There was nothing he could say to make his friend feel better. Dealing with death was never an easy process and everyone deals with it differently. So instead of offering false words of comfort he pulled the green haired rune mage to him and just held him. "I know that there's nothing to say to make you feel better. So just let it out. We'll always be here for you when you need us," he whispered into Freed's ear. "Just remember that."
After awhile Freed finally calmed down enough to were he could actually return home. The home they shared together. As he walked in his eyes landed on the armchair his wife had spent hours curled up in with her favorite book, which was still sitting on the arm of it.
Right then he made a decision. With or without the Thunder Legions help he would hunt down her murderers and show them no mercy.
He wouldn't say goodbye until he destroyed her killers. It was the one word he had never wanted to say to her but they're forcing him to do.
