Chapter One: Max
Alec stood watching the new girl closely, he couldn't help it. There was just something about her. It was a feeling he couldn't explain, like he knew her from somewhere. Her hair was long, straight, and dark brown. She was the picture of innocence with her perfectly full lips, natural tanned skin, and her deep dark brown eyes. Alec knew though that it was those eyes that drew him in. Dark and endless filled with so much sadness, anger, and something he couldn't quite place.
The minute she had stepped into command Alec had noticed her. Mole had been showing her around. He found it unusual,l Mole rarely liked anybody yet there he was showing this mystery girl around. Alec kept mostly to himself, but for some unknown reason he had to talk to her. Everyone was surprised when he had walked up to her and began to question her. Like was she dependable? Would she be capable of keeping up?. She had answered each question accordingly. What he really liked was when she said "Tell me what to do, and I'll find a way to get it done". After that Alec made sure she had become part of command and he had to admit he liked her there.
From day one Alec told her what to do and true to her word she got it done. No matter what it took. After thinking a bit more he realized that he really didn't know that much about her. He hadn't even caught her name yet. Then again it had only been about a week and a half since she had arrived. "Am I really that busy that I can't even get someones name?" Alec thought to himself. It was beginning to get dark out which meant mostly eveyone would be heading out for the day. He watched as everyone slowly began to head home. She was one of the last to leave. Alec decided it was now or never to talk to her. He told Mole he was heading out and he would see him in A.M.. As he walked out he heard Mole mumble something that sounded like "Yeah, whatever Princess". He wasn't really paying attention he was to caught up in following her.
Alec followed her towards the entrance and before he could tell what was happening she had turned and slammed him into the wall by the collar of his leather jacket. "The hell is your problem?" She asked. "What?" Alec asked in complete shock no one had ever surprised him like this in a long time. "You keep watching me and now you're following me? What's your deal?" Her gaze was intense as she questioned him. "Sorry" Alec said "You just seem very familiar and I was going to ask if you wanted to get a drink and get to know eachother, before you pinned me to the wall of course". She slowly let go of his collar and backed away from him. "Sorry, I guess I'm just use to expecting the worst from people you know?" She told Alec. He nodded his head in agreement. "So... How about that drink?" He asked. "I can't" she relpied already turning to walk away.
Alec grabed her wrist to stop her and turned her towards him. "Why not?" Alec questioned her. She looked at the ground and said "Better not risk it'. "Risk what?" he asked. Watching her as she searched for an answer. "Please just trust me on this." Her voice sounded full of sadness. The anger from earlier completely gone. "Why should I trust you? I don't know you or your name." He told her. She looked up at him with those big brown eyes and asked "Don't I seem trustworthy?". Slowly he nodded his head in a yes motion. He realized he was still holding her wrist and slowly let it go. Instantly missing the warmth that had been there. She was the first to break eye contact looking at the ground as if she was embarrassed.
Without realizing what he was doing he lifted her chin with his finger until once again they were looking into one another's eyes. "You don't ever have to be shy or emmbarrassed around me you know." he told her, his voice coming out low and raspy. She gave him a smile and Alec swore he never saw anyone or anything look more beautiful. "How can I trust you? I don't even know you." She told Alec repeating almost the same words he had said to her earlier, a hint of teasing in her voice. Alec smiled at this before replying "Don't I look trustworthy?". They both stood there smiling at eachother. "I really do need to get home though" She told him.
"I'll see you tomorrow" Alec told her. She started walking away, but turned around and said "Max". He looked at her with a confused look. "My name. It's Max, you said earlier that you didn't know my name. Well now you do". She started walking away again, when Alec asked "Don't you want to know mine?". She stopped walking, she turned and looked at him "I already know your name Alec." she said. Then turned and walked out the door. Alec smiled and at this before walking back to his closet of an apartment, that he called his home. He couldn't get Max out of his head. He already knew that slowly he was falling for her. He wondered how she knew his name. Maybe she heard it around HQ after all he was the CO. As he laid there in bed he fell asleep with a smile on his face because now he knew her name: Max.
