I got the idea of the dedication while I was on Tumblr. Credit to the person who posted it. :) I do not own Castle. I know this story sucks but it would be nice if you reviewed it! :)

"Detective!" Alexis called out a mile away at the book release of "Heat Rises". Kate just arrived at the party and as usual, she was uneasy attending these sorts of social gathering. Thank God Alexis saw her immediately, ease out her uneasiness.
"Alexis, call me Kate. No need to be 'too' formal here" She smile and gave Alexis a hug.
"Okay, Kate." They laughed a bit knowing how weird and awkward the feeling was but they're sure in time both of them would get used to it."Dad, will be here in a minute. He's just finishing the book signing in the other room. Until then, I'm here to keep you company. Wait here, I'll just get us some drinks." Alexis left and got some drinks.
While Alexis was getting their drinks, Kate walked through the table in the middle where there were copies of Heat Rises. Yes, she has seen and read the book but not everything was written in her copy. There was one part missing...the dedication. She was about to open it but saw Alexis coming back so she just grabbed the copy and headed back to their table. Alexis was drinking her drink when Kate came back.
"Haven't read it? I thought dad gave you one?" Alexis asked. Kate smiled in Alexis' face that looked both horrified and mad at the same time.
"No, no, He did give me one and I have read it." She said. Itching to open the book.
"Oh, I see" Alexis was giving a puzzled look but did not push her.
"Cause you see, the copy your father gave me lacked one part.." Kate was eyeing Alexis.
"Like a page or part of a story?" Kate didn't know how to put this in a way that Alexis wouldn't think of it as something else.
"It's kind of embarrassing.. it's the dedication" Kate said. Slightly looking down then back at Alexis. A flood of relief flooded her body when she saw her smile.
"That's not embarrassing. I know that. Dad dedicated his first book to me and grams and it was just so heartfelt." Alexis said. "You know Detective- sorry, Kate. Dad only dedicates his books to people he really cares about." Kate remembered at a memory from two years ago. She just smiled at Alexis.
"Well, let's not keep you waiting..Open it!" Alexis said schooching over to Kate.
To KB, Always
Upon reading, Kate couldn't help but feel really special. She had a bigger smile in her face and Alexis noticed it but didn't say anything about it but she knew that coming from her dad, it meant more than what is might seem to other people and she knew Kate understood.
"Well, that's quite a dedication." Kate said casually and Alexis went back to her seat. Silence followed as both were just savouring the moment. They were just interrupted with Rick Castle coming over their table.
