Artemis Fowl goes to camp Chapter 1
This takes place before the Last Guardian
But after the Arctic Incident.
Artemis Fowl, age 14, was board. There was no other way to phrase it. It had been weeks since his last scheme and his mother began to notice. When his father had been rescued by his fairy friend Holly Short of the LEP, he declared that the Fowls were going to stay on the straight and narrow from now on. The Fowls began attending the church of Christ in Ireland. Artemis senior was firm and almost had to demand that Artemis junior attend with them. Artemis was shocked, his father had always been catholic and when he asked why his father did not want to attend the Catholic Church down the road, he replied, "it's time we start over, a new beginning means a new church. It's time that we start over and sanctify ourselves before The Lord in hopes that he will forgive us in spite of our past criminal ways." They left for church in the family Bentley with Butler driving. Upon arrival they were surprised to hear singing but no instruments were playing. Butler, being seven feet tall, was forced to stand by the back corner of the building. As the family took their seats the service began. First some songs were sung, none of the family save for Angeline and Artemis senior felt like singing. Then The Lord's supper was passed around, at this point and time Artemis junior was puzzled because he did not quite understand how someone's blood and body can be represented by bread and wine. Next came the offering, this was a part that he could understand and take pleasure in, giving to the needy. When the bowl came his way he placed thirteen crisp one thousand dollar bills, shocking the person holding the bowl into silence. After a few more songs the pastor rose and began by welcoming the Fowls and saying how he hoped that they would stay for the afternoon lunch. The lesson focused on revelation and wether or not it was a revealing of what is to come, or what has already came. During lunch Angeline came upon a flier for Gander Brook Christian Camp, and as she read it, it became apparent that it would be a good place for Artemis to exercise and make friends, seeing as he had so few. When she found Artemis he was sitting at a table regally eating a piece of meatloaf with a small glass of lemonade. "Arty, dear, there is something I want to discuss with you." Angeline said with a bit of apprehension. "Moth- mum, yes what is it?" He replied. "Well I found out about a Camp in the US and I've signed you up." She said. Artemis nearly choked on his meatloaf mid bite, "mum how could you, I'm not physically fit, you know that." He said, with worry and anger. "Well don't worry, you don't have to be, there are multiple activities and there are plenty of mental activities that require memorization. I believe it's called the bible bowl." His mother countered. "Fine, what is the name of this camp prey tell?" Artemis junior asked in irritation. "Gander Brook Christian Camp and we're taking this Saturday so you get packed" his mother answered in triumph. Artemis junior paled at his mother's triumphal grin. "Yes ma'am." He replied in defeat.
