There was faint sound of karaoke in the distance

A packed pub of New Years Eve revellers

One woman standing outside, alone, so alone

Making footprints in the snow, something familiar about the cold

Another dream? Just out of reach.

Looking up at the stars, her grandfather's voice in her head

Tales of aliens and strange planets in the skies!

Something else she'd missed

And remembering Christmas

The same as it ever was

With her mother and grandfather, unwrapping presents,

Too much alcohol and too much food

Too much time alone to think

Desperately trying to remember, but needing to forget

A feeling of loss, not able to explain

Getting colder

The sound of someone singing badly to Dancing Queen shaking her from her reverie

She sighed, needing to break out from this depression

Deciding to go back inside and show them how Karaoke was meant to be sung

Looking one last time up at the sky!

Wondering just what else she had missed?

Another lone figure across the road, needing to see her

Not able to talk to her for fear of consequences

From time to time, remembering. Wishing that she'd remember him

The times they'd had, mates and so much more

"Happy New Year, Donna," he whispered.

Turning back towards the TARDIS, stepping inside

Hearing her laughter once again

The TARDIS remembering her for him
