The Thirst of Us
(Prologue)
--
"Don't let them get away!"
"Damn you, Kazuya scum!"
"Go to hell, Chinatsu bastards!"
The two clans, the noble Kazuya clan and the noble Chinatsu clan, were from the same seed. The Holy Mother clan could do nothing to stop it. The Matriarch and the Patriarch of all of the clans that branched from the Holy Mother clan could do nothing but watch as the two noble clans erupted and tore each other apart. It was the "noble" thing to do at that point. Hopefully, the feud between the Kazuya clan and the Chinatsu clan could be settled. It was. But in a more tragic way than anyone could possibly imagine.
It was in the marketplace in Konoha. Sakaki Chinatsu had just been inappropriately approached and touched by a Kazuya clan member. According to the reports; it was the father of young Goro, the fifth son of the Kazuya clan and the fifth out of eight cousins to young Ryo Chinatsu, the only daughter of the Chinatsu clan. After the encounter, Sakaki's husband Ryuu had come along to confront the Kazuya family who (unfortunately) owned that certain section of the marketplace. Goro and his brothers watched as fire was set to the stalls and as their father fought with his brother. Soon, all members of both clans gathered and started to fight.
"Raffy!" Ryo's little voice chimed. Her puppy had run out into the middle of the quarrel, and there was nothing she loved more than her dog.
A stray kunai whistled through the air and only the thud of the limp body and the wail of a mournful mother filled the air.
She was innocent.
She was in a coma.
There was both relief and fear still running through the veins of the clans. Ryo hadn't awakened in two years since she got hit. She was only eight years old, and the clans were thinking about pulling her off of the only life support she had. Through it all, they had never found Raffy. He stayed missing on the streets claimed by the Kazuya clan. There were some rumors that Raffy was mercilessly beheaded and eaten.
Through all the rumors and the eight seasons, Ryo had missed out on everything; from the death of her mother to the insanity of her father, from the purchase of another dog for her awakening to the death of one of her cousins. At twelve years old, four years later, she awoke.
And this is where our story begins.
