A/N: I'm in a weird mood – wondering about why when Howard and Vince met they didn't just smile, wave, and move on. This idea kinda just occurred without me noticing; it's got a weird tone to it I think, I was trying to make it feel a bit disjointed. I'm not sure if it worked, but I thought I'd put it up here anyway. :)

Disclaimer: The Mighty Boosh doesn't belong to me. Neither do the Beatles. (Mores the pity.) The song used is called 'The Long and Winding Road' I recommend you listen to it when reading this – if only so that you can listen to the calming voice of Paul McCartney and get something nice out of your time here :')

Voila.

The long and winding road,

That leads to your door,

Will never disappear,

I've seen that road before.

It always leads me here,

Leads me to your door.

Vince hadn't always been so full of sunshine. He hadn't always been able to hold back the tears, to let his feelings be known without upsetting himself. He hadn't always been who he was today; but now he had Howard.

Now he had Howard.

Howard had welcomed the smaller man in with open arms. He hadn't pushed him to tell him what had led him up to working in a run-down zoo. And he in-turn didn't question Howard's life story. But slowly, slowly and surely, they helped each other, cured each other of the scars they had in their souls.

Howard hadn't always been so sure of himself. He hadn't always been so able to mess around and take a joke. He hadn't always been who he was today; but now he had Vince.

Now he had Vince.

Vince had needed him as much as he needed Vince. The younger man had overlooked all of his faults, all of his flaws that had been exposed to so many people who had then abandoned him. He didn't so much ignore them, as notice them and accept they were there. He had helped Howard cure them, and he in-turn and helped to cure Vince.

They might argue constantly, and bicker over their different tastes in music, clothes, and girls. They might insult each other in the heat of the moment, or perhaps threaten to leave. Sometimes they did leave.

But they always came back.

That's just how they worked. Neither could be without the other. They really were like two sides of the same coin; in that without one half, a coin is worthless, just a piece of patterned metal. But together, together they were one full coin. One full being.

The wild and windy night,

That the rain washed away.

Has left a pool of tears,

Crying for the day.

Why leave me standing here,

Let me know the way.

They always helped each other. When one was stuck with a problem they couldn't seem to overcome, needed some advice, or maybe just some words of comfort, the other was always able to oblige. They wouldn't ever leave each other to fend on their own. They needed each other too much for that.

It wasn't all about just helping each other with the past though. They were loving the present.

And they were determined to have a great future.

"Remember that time with the gnome?"
