Chapter One
The lights are glowing, the stage is set, and the crowd is brimming with anticipation. As the drone of perfection starts to cut into the darkness, many are anxiously waiting for DJ Crossfire, the greatest DJ to ever walk the planet.
The crowd is hushed, and the build-up is on. DJ Crossfire starts with a remixed set of "Bad Romance" with a striking push into the beginning. The vocals of Gaga start with a repeat at the top, mixed in with a piercing pitch of tone in the music, and then land silently before going into a repeat of the title part of the song. It then fades before the intro starts up.
DJ Crossfire places her 'phones on her head, and spins the record causing a constant jump into the first line, followed by a gain of deeper vocals as the song skips into the chorus. The song is layered from the beginning of the chorus to the end of it, along with a pitched scream as the vocals of Gaga repeat the title track.
The crowd is jumping and Crossover smiles as another sick beat goes well with the party. Suddenly, the track skips to the beginning again without any doing on her part. The crowd watches her with confusion as she tries to settle the mix again; the same problem occurs.
"Cross! What the hell is going on?", the manager Reggie calls out from the middle of the dance floor.
"This isn't my doing!", she yells back.
Just then a spark ignites on the cords, causing a rapid fire to spread on the stage, and off to the crowd. The audience screams as Reggie leads them all quickly outside. Crossover desperately attempts to put out the flames, but the fire is only getting worse. Soon the entire stage is on fire, and she quickly grabs her keyboard and 'phones and runs to join the others. The flames spread to the exits and she is now trapped inside. She can faintly hear sirens outside of the club, and watches in horror as the club continues to burn. She then watches as firefighters burst through the doors, and immediately make their way to her clinging her keyboard with fire all around. They gently bring her outside but it's too late to save the club. Everyone watches helplessly as the building burns to ashes.
The people watch with smoke covered faces, and Reggie approaches Crossfire with anger in his eyes.
"I knew you were Crossfire, but I wasn't expecting this. You're fired.", he states.
Two months later.
Crossfire desperately makes her way into Russian Literature with an overstuffed backpack, and headphones bouncing on her neck. Finally, she makes her way to the door and rushes inside.
"Bella Kate Scott! You're late again!", the professor remarks.
"I'm sorry Professor M. My track needed a new line for the chorus.", she explained.
"I don't care, now sit down. Another late attempt and I'm calling you absent; it's your last one."
"Cool; I understand.", Bella replied as she quickly took her seat. The incident is now burned into her system and no other club has wanted to hire her out of risk. The only time she could make now was for the demos she was able to save, and the classes she was unwilling to take. What she needed now, was another fucking miracle.
After the class periods had ended, Bella made her way to Communications Coffee Shop, a café dedicated to her, and met up with her best friend Gia.
"Hey bitch! Almost thought you forgot about our weekly coffee break.", Gia exclaimed. Gia was a punk artist with dreams of being a Rockstar, but since no-one wanted to give her a real shot, all she could do was hope for the day to come. Her brunette hair was highlighted with yellow and pink streaks on the bangs and down the back, and her clothes were a combination of alternative and heavy metal, with fishnet stockings, red plaid skirt, and a black leather jacket with a hot pink t-shirt underneath. Between the two of them, Gia had the style and Bella had the sound.
"Sorry. Professor M had to give me another lecture on the importance of being on time.", Bella grudged.
"Oh please; that bitch is just unhappy because her husband left her for another woman. I swear she hasn't gotten laid in a long time.", Gia remarked as she took a sip of a Carmel Macchiato.
"No kidding. Hey, you wanna listen to my new mix?"
"Sure! I need some distraction from the douchebag professors."
"I hear ya bitch; here it is."
Bella then proceeded to hand her 'phones over to Gia and pressed "play" on her laptop. A fast-paced remix of "Timber" immediately played faintly from the headphones.
"Holy shit! This is effing awesome!", Gia exclaimed.
"Yeah, I know.", Bella joked.
"I swear that song is the only one you hear, but this might just be the best version of it; I was getting tired of the original."
"Only because I play it so often.", Bella teased.
"True that. (Set finishes) That was really awesome Bella; they have to take you now.", Gia said as she hands the headphones back to Bella.
"Yeah right. After that last job, no-one has the balls to even approach me anymore; do they really think I did this on purpose?", Bella asks.
"What do you have to gain from getting fired? It was just an accident; let it go."
"Let it go? It's been almost three months' now and I still don't have a job; even the radio station won't hire me.", she remarks as she takes a sip of her warm hot chocolate.
"Bella, do you know you are?"
"Only according to my parents."
"Bitch! That's not what I meant. (She says as she fails to keep her smile down) No, you are Bella effing Scott, the greatest DJ to ever rock the sound. You're talented, hot, and your boobs still look fine after that bra went missing for about three weeks…"
"Thanks for reminding me G."
"But seriously, you are so effing awesome that I'm surprised Brad dumped you, and for a whore. My point is that you're amazing, and any studio or, whatever, will definitely hire you before you even know it. trust me on this one; no-one can let Bella down."
"Thanks G."
"Somebody's gotta have the brains.", Gia teases.
"You're an idiot.", Bella teases back.
"I know." The girls laugh and toast their drinks together.
"So, any news on the internship?", Bella asks.
"Not yet and it's been three days. I'm starting to think they're avoiding me."
"Oh, come on, even I couldn't avoid you."
"That's because you won't leave me alone."
"True, true. So, any word on Dexter yet?"
"He still won't return my calls. I swear if his dick wasn't so big, I wouldn't waste my time right now."
"Amen to that."
"You think I should dump him?"
"No way! Look, when Brad dumped me for that slut of a woman, I almost cried myself to sleep every night and blamed myself for how things ended. Then I got off my lazy ass, went back to my work, and made a killer new track in the progress, with a brand, new sound. Trust me, everything will be fine, but not if you dump that hottie when you need him the most."
"Thanks, Bella."
"Any time bitch."
As the day went on, Bella was in her dorm as her previous roommate was packing all her things.
"Don't call me or don't text me; I don't wanna see your bad eyeshadow again.", her roommate remarked.
"Wasn't planning on it Lyla. Enjoy the new room."
"Ugh.", was all Lyla could say as she took the last box and made a quick exit from the room while slamming the door behind her.
What did I ever do to her?
Soon she hears a knock on the door, and leaps off her bed to find Gia waiting excitedly outside.
"Finally, you're here!"
"Here and here to stay." Gia said as the girls hugged.
"Good and, guess what I brought? (Pulls out a pillow case from underneath her bed and takes two beers out from it) Let's celebrate!"
"Heck yeah!" The girls pop the lids and take down the first gulp.
"Gotta love the Ultra." Gia declares.
"Gotta love Chris for bringing it to us."
"Hell yeah! That man could sell me anything."
"Amen to that bitch."
The girls soon hear Lyla call out for them to keep it down from the room two doors down.
"After you skank!" Gia calls out.
"You know, I'm starting to think that she just doesn't like me."
"Probably because your boobs are bigger than hers." The girls giggle.
"So, what are your plans for keeping up with the DJ angel?"
"If I knew the answer to that, I wouldn't be downing this beer."
"Oh, come on Bella! There's be something you can do to redeem yourself."
"Like what?"
"Like, banging the music producer."
"Ew, no, he's old enough to be my father." She answers before clearing her throat.
"He'll be happy you're here; I'm sure of it." Bella attempts a smile.
"Just think, soon, you'll be the best in the business again."
"I don't know Gia, it's not like people are pounding on my door; they wait until after they get inside."
"Nice."
"What do I do? My dad always wanted me to be a DJ, so what can I do to make that happen?"
"Lie on your resumé?"
"Yeah, and then I'll be a stripper after that blows down."
"Hey, I had to bang my English teacher when he gave me a bad grade that I didn't earn."
"Nice move G."
"I know."
"I can do this right? I mean, my dreams of being a DJ aren't completely gone?"
"No way Bell! God didn't make this so that other people couldn't use it. Listen, I know you can do it, and not because I'm your biggest fan that you crammed every demo down my throat. You're the best DJ I know, mostly because everyone else sucks. This is your dream and your goal, and since when has Bella Kate Scott ever gone down from a dream, minus that one time you wanted to be a prostitute."
"That guy's balls were small."
"Exactly, and that bald head wasn't doing anything for you; I'm surprised he wasn't gay."
"That might've been helpful."
"Sure. Anyway, don't give up Bell, okay? I know you got this is that figure you call a body."
"You know you're really terrible at pep talks?"
"Hey, my parents a doctor, I wanted a puppy; looks like everybody failed in the end."
"Sure."
"Now, finish that remix that I could very plainly hear from outer space, take your butt in bed, and get ready for a brand, new day tomorrow. Like it or not world, but DJ Crossfire is back bitches! And nothing's gonna stop my girl!"
They then hear Lyla call out shut up! from her room.
"Oh, go get laid bitch! Nobody asked you." Gia calls back, causing Bella to smile.
"The bitch is back, and her name is Bella." Gia says as she winks at Bella.
"And nothing is gonna stop me now!"
