Mac Taylor wasn't a man to rush into anything. He'd planned for three weeks exactly how to ask Claire to marry him. He thought through everything he did in his job, and though he knew how to trust his gut, he also knew how to follow the rules and do what he had to do.
That's why there was no explanation for the sudden rush of feelings that went through him just from wrapping his fingers around the slim, but strong, wrist of Michelle Dessler.
Michelle had been working with him for nearly two months and never in that time had he felt the need to touch her, hold her, or kiss her.
Then she'd tripped at a crime scene and he'd wrapped a hand around hers to keep her from falling and suddenly his heart was beating just a little too fast.
