I Can Wait Forever

This was inspired by the song "I Can Wait Forever" by Airsupply. I know, it's an old song, but it's a perfect theme song for Shinichi and Ran.

Silence

it's enough to deafen a person. But it wasn't enough for her to forget him.

Him.

It has been three years since she saw him. She's now working in her mother's law firm, fulfilling her dream to be one of the best lawyers in Japan. But right now, she's

staying in her father's detective agency. Ever since Conan left three years ago, Kogoro's luck suddenly depleted, thus removing his title as the "Sleeping Kogoro." The

sudden change of his lifestyle caused his life. His drinking habits worsen, and after a few years, he was declared dead.

-KNOCK KNOCK-

Ran dried her tears away. Who could it be?

The sight of the person on the door took her by shock. It was Conan, drenched in sweat. He looked like he ran a mile.

"Conan-kun!" She hugged the weary child. "I miss you so much. When did you come back from America?"

"… I just arrived awhile ago. I finally finished my case." Conan confessed

"…case?" Ran wondered. Suddenly, tears flowed from her, "Shin..ichi?"

Conan pulled her inside, signaling her to sit on the couch.

"About that, I came here to tell you everything." He shrugged.

Rain started pouring after Conan came. Silence was then replaced by cries of Ran as she convinced herself not to hurt him first.

"–and that's why I'm this small." He sighed. Finally, the entire burden he's been bearing for six years finally left him. He had been tempted to tell Ran about his condition,

but his desire to protect Ran outgrew it.

"But there's one problem, Ran." Ran looked in his deep, azure eyes, drowning in his mixed emotions.

"Shiho's dead, and she's the only one who can make the antidote." Suddenly, his azure eyes shone, releasing his disappointment as tears filled his eyes. Ran comforted

him by hugging him while stroking his hair, "its ok. I can wait forever"

Conan-no, Shinichi looked in her eyes, shocked at what she said. "But, you've already waited for a very long time. I can't afford to ask you another favor. Another reason

why I came here is to say goodbye to you."

Ran gained her courage and slapped him in the face. "How could you say that? I told you that I'll wait for, as long as you'll come back to me. I don't care if you're a kid or

anything. As long as you're here with me, that's enough."

Her extra courage shocked Conan as she kissed him. The feeling of guilt and sadness washed away as happiness and pride took over him, she's willing to wait for me.

She's mine, only MINE.

After a minute, which for them feels like hours, they separated, catching their breath. Smiles replaced their sad faces as they proved to each other that love can wait

forever.
