I'm glad you're not dead
Harry and Ginny made there way slowly around the lake in the Hogwarts grounds, neither of them talking but walking in a comfortable silence. Both of them were thinking about the events of the previous day; the horror and grief that gripped the people around Hogwarts was contagious, you didn't have to go far to find someone crying. They had come outside to get away from the pain that everyone was feeling but put into action the plan wasn't working as well as they had hopped. Neither of them could forget the dead bodies that had lay all over the hall the night before. Or the spells that had hit people and lit up the dark corridors of Hogwarts like jets of fire that could easily kill you or some one around you.
Harry put his arm around Ginny's shoulders needing to know that she was there and that he wasn't all alone. The heat that radiated off her body made him feel better though he wasn't sure how.
Ginny pressed herself closer to Harry feeling the same reassurance that he did with the companionship.
They had walked to the edge of the lake so they could no longer see the castle but were facing the forest. Harry shivered with the memory of what had happened last night he couldn't help it. Ginny looked up at him and pulled him gently over to the edge of the forest where she sat down against the biggest tree. Harry sat down next to her and he put his arm over her shoulders again.
They sat in silence for a while longer before Ginny spoke, ''Harry,'' she said, he looked down at her and nodded seeing the pain in her eyes.
''You know when Sirius died,'' she continued quietly, ''did it hurt?''
''Yeah.'' Harry said remembering what he had felt after his godfather's death.
''Did it go away,'' Ginny continued ''because I don't think I can stand this for much longer.''
Harry brushed the hair out of her eyes and wondered how to answer the question, finally he said, ''no, it doesn't go away but it becomes part of you and you learn to live with it, so it doesn't go away but it gets better.''
Ginny nodded and relaxed slightly leaning on Harry again, ''as long as it gets better.'' She said nodding.
They continued to sit there for the rest of the day occasionally speaking but mainly just enjoying each others company.
As the sun began to set behind the castle Harry realised that he hadn't seen Ron or Hermione since the morning, it felt strange he hadn't been apart from them for this long for ages, ''you know'' he said ''we should probably go back up to the castle, they'll want to know where we are.''
Ginny sighed and nodded, they stood up and began to make there way back to the castle though not in any hurry.
''You know,'' Ginny said smiling slightly, ''I'm glad your not dead.''
Harry laughed lightly glad that Ginny could still make a joke after everything that had happened, and they continued on there way to the now quiet castle.
A/N
So this is my first thing that isn't humour, is it any good?
I've had this in my head for ages and I couldn't write a new chapter for my other fic until I had this out of my head, so I've written it but I'm not sure if it's any good.
I described what I felt like when my granddad died when Harry was talking and that might just be me I don't know how everyone else feels but I think its okay.
I've done another Harry and Ginny one shot that takes place in the morning of this one, if that makes sense. So you could maybe read that, its more humour but still with angst.
Reviews are loved, they make my day (:
Also if you know any good Harry and Ginny stuff could you tell me 'cause I want to read some but I cant find any I like :) Thank you (:
