It had been six months since he'd seen Kairi.
Sora closed his eyes in the warm summer air. He thought about what she was doing now, wondered if she missed him. Had she changed in the time they'd been apart? Probably. He laughed to himself. He never used to dwell on her like this before, and that was when he didn't know that she was safe and at home on the islands. He supposed his feelings had changed a little.
He wished he could talk to her. Even if it was just for a minute, just to hear her voice...He opened his eyes and looked up at the sky. Clouds slowly drifted along in the pale blue. The sun wasn't too bright, the clouds carefully hid just enough of the light so that it wasn't too dark.
em If I could tell her just one thing, what would it be? /em
He played with the idea in his head for a while, his thoughts wandering like the clouds meandering through the sky. There was a light breeze that combed through the tall grass that surrounded him. He wondered if she would like it here; In the back of his mind he knew she would. He sat up and looked around the field he'd been laying in. There were no houses, no roads, no anything for miles around. Compared to the island they used to play on, this place was umimaginiably vast. He thought about how many worlds were out there; the universe was more infinite than he'd ever dreamt. This one field alone was at least as big as one of the biggest islands. He wished Kairi was here.
He stood up, brushing pieces of grass off his clothes. He started walking, following the path he'd made earlier, a thin line of collapsed grass, almost as long as the field. The breeze picked up again and as it ran through the field it sounded like a river. Every blade like a water drop, echoing as it joined with all the others on their journey to the sea.
Sora closed his eyes against the wind for a short while, dreaming that it was moving him forwards, step by step. The branches of a lone tree off in the distance creaked as they bent back and forth. He looked at the sky again and the clouds were racing in the wind now, as Sora started running too. He made it a game, to see how much of the grass he could clear, before making a huge sunken-in footprint.
The wind changed direction and pushed him from behind, giving him an extra push with each jump.
em I'm coming, so wait. I'll hurry, so please, just wait for me. /em
