Disclaimer: I don't own the Hunger Games
Four clear beautiful, yet simple notes rang through the still air of the forest, diverting my attention from a rather tasty looking fat worm, which was cautiously wriggling its way through the slowly decaying leaves that had spread itself over the forest ground like a carpet. Curious to find the source of the music, I flapped my way effortlessly to a branch that was positioned in the perfect spot for me to spy on to three very strange two legged creatures standing on their hind legs, well one of them seemed to have fallen asleep with its eyes opened and had a silver arrow stuck in its chest.
Which I must say is extremely strange, and another had a huge fallen branch stuck through its chest, I do wander what these creatures are called they seem extremely familiar; I had to ponder about this carefully, after all what if they were predators of mine? Aha, they are humans; oh my mama will be so proud of me that remembered what they are, I heard that they produced the most amusing sounds.
Eagerly I leaned forward to listen them make a sound, but the silence dragged on for like an eternity, when finally the same piercing notes I heard this morning broke through the creature's mouth. Delightedly I chorused back the notes over and over again and before I realized many of my brothers and sisters joined in. Then suddenly the human holding the other smaller human, in what seemed like a tenderly fashion, made new sounds again.
Confusedly, I stopped singing as so many of my brothers and sisters; 'maybe the human was testing us' I thought. Ruffling my feathers proudly I listened closely to the sounds the human was making.
Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft pillow
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.
Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.
Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray
Forget your woes and let your troubles lay
And when it's morning again, they'll wash away
Here it's safe here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here you dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.
It sounded very pretty, so ready to prove myself I sang it back to the human as I watched it gather wildflowers and started wreathing into the little one's head and spreading it around the small one's body. The small human looked very peaceful there, I guess the small one got too tired and decided to go for a nap and forgot to make a nest. 'Silly human', I laughed to myself, now the bigger one has to make a nest!
BOOM!
Squawking indigently, I quickly tried to clamber my way back into the air, when I finally regain my stability I quickly flew out of that small clearing, as I clearly had enough excitement for the day. That night I thought about the humans, why did the small one fall asleep? I mean it wasn't even winter yet!
