Lois quietly drove up to the farmhouse. It seemed like ages since she had been here though it really hadn't been that long. She had called Chloe earlier to see what time she was coming back to the hospital and could instantly tell that something was wrong. Things had gone south again between Clark and Lana and this time it sounded permanent. She didn't know the details and she didn't care. She immediately got in her car and headed down the road. She knew that Clark needed someone now and she was going to be there for him, like he had for her. She took a deep breath before exiting the vehicle pushing aside any feelings she might have had.

She silently entered the barn. She knew that was where he would be. She reached the top of the stairs and found that she was right but almost hoped she hadn't been when she saw him. He sat crumpled up, broken, leaning against the wall of the loft under the window. She could see the tear lines on his face as he looked up at her. The hurt and pain she saw in his eyes was almost unbearable, but she didn't turn away. She quickly walked across the loft; sitting down beside him. She placed her arm around his shoulder leaning him into her. He moved towards her without any complaint as she held him and fresh tears fell.
