These characters are not mine, even though I wish they were or even that they were real..but sigh they are not and I didn't create them...

"Here Dad, I did some errands around the house and bought it." Ben said proudly as he handed it to his father. Ben was now thirteen and starting high school in the fall. His brown eyes sparkled as he watched his father unwrap the present. "Wow, where did you ever find this?" Ross said as he held up the mug. He turned it around to reveal the I HEART FOSSILS mug logo and the words on the bottom Museum of Natural History.

"Ben this is the best father's day gift I could get. " Ross said with emotion in his voice.

"Well I remember breaking one when I was younger, and on a field trip I saw it and thought you might like it. It's nothing." he shrugged. Ross came over and gave him a big hug. "It's more than you will ever know." A memory kept playing over in his mind. He was at the museum when she told him..

"I'm pregnant." she said. Suddenly the divorce wasn't their biggest problem. Now she was carrying his baby. Susan was a part of her life and she was carrying a baby whose father no longer lived with her. A son that would visit him on the weekends and then go home to his two mothers. For everything he wanted, didn't include this.

"Dad?" said Ben ,bringing Ross out of his reverie. He looked over at the young man in front of him. In a time where everything was so out of control, this young man brought order from chaos.

Returning to the work on his computer, he picked up the mug and drank his coffee from it. He looked at the pictures on the shelf by his desk. Crudely drawn was a picture attached to his mini fridge by a brontosaurus magnet. The picture had three stick figures in it, a yellow haired mommy, a black haired daddy, and a little girl with blonde hair . Taking the milk out of the fridge, he saw it and smiled.

"Daddy. I drawed this for you." said Emma proudly as she handed him the picture. Ross had to laugh. "Princess, you drew this for me. Drew, past tense." Emma dropped her head in shame. "Sweetie, that's alright." he said. "You'll learn." He picked up the paper and in childish scrawl at the bottom was Happy Father's Day. On the piece of white paper was what appeared to a be a huge monster on some sort. Emma took her finger and pointed it out . "Dino monster." she said loudly. Ross struggled to see what the large monster was.

Rachel leaned over and whispered to him.' It's a dinosaur." Holding the paper out, he laughed. "Why yes , it is the best dinosaur picture I have ever seen. In fact , I am going to put this up on my wall behind my desk at school." Rachel handed him a small wrapped box and kissed him on the cheek. "Happy Father's Day, Ross." she said. He tore the ribbon off and in the box was a small card. He read the card and hugged her.

"Is this true?" he said. "Yep, got the news this morning." Rachel said as tears came into her voice. "You are going to be a daddy again." The words seemed to echo as he remembered the last time he was told this.

"I don't know what you're talking about." he said. "I mean we used a condom right?" " "Well condoms are only effective ninety seven percent of the time." Rachel had said. Ross remembered the ranting and screaming at the condom company president.

"Are you happy Ross?" she asked nervously as she waited for the explosion. He put his arms around her. "This has to be the happiest I have ever been. I couldn't have asked for a better father's day than this." He lowered his hand to Rachel's flat stomach. "And thank you , for your gift, " he said to their unborn child. "Daddy loves you." he bent to kiss her belly.
