The Collector

Summary: Lucius/Narcissa.

Lucius eats his ice cream sundae from the outside in, spooning only enough each time for the chilly cream to slide down his throat without discomfort. He makes sure each spoonful contains a little bit of bittersweet chocolate syrup. He directs the Fortescue staff in how to make his sundae -- he may be only 14 years old, but he knows what he likes. And as a Malfoy, he always gets what he wants.
Narcissa is often so distracted, listening to Lucius with rapt attention, that she does not eat her ice cream sundae with any sort of order. She does, however, like lots of walnuts and extra whipping cream. Lucius makes sure the Fortescue staff is generous with her favourite toppings.
Lucius eats slowly, and when all that remains is a pitted black cherry on a stem, he gathers up the cream and syrup set aside and feeds it to Narcissa. She always smiles and meets his gaze, taking her time in tugging the cherry off the stem with her lips pulled slightly back.
Sometimes, a bit of syrup drips onto Narcissa's chin. Lucius unclasps his other hand from hers so he can dab her chin with a napkin. He takes her hand again and surreptitiously pockets the cherry stem. Later that day he will add the stem to all the others. He likes to collect things. Some day he will add Narcissa to his collection.
