Like a lithe graceful panther
Stalking from wall to wall of its cage
But instead of being placed in its prison by a hunter
This cage is of its own construction
Auburn locks and jade-green eyes
This is no ordinary panther
Fierce, cold, and aloof on the outside
Hurt and wounded on the in
A wound whenever close to healing
Has a knife and salt rubbed through it
With the wound comes self-anger
At allowing this to happen again
So this unusual panther prowls to its domain
Where the clink of metal on metal is heard
Into protective gear, take a thin long metal sabre
To the floor so the dance may begin
The sound of metal on metal
One small lounge and the panther has victory
Another and then another challenger steps up
None are a match for this beautiful feline
After every challenger is defeated
The panther had lost her(its) anger
Leaving her(its) territory to return to her(its) cage
If only to repeat the challenge once more.
