Author's Note: I've wanted to write something like this ever since I saw a news story that said community service was now mandatory to pass certain classes…mandatory, not done out of the goodness of people's hearts as it should be. Makes you wonder what else might be mandatory in the future, and just how that might affect those in power and those who have none…

Anywho…here's a small present for you, my loyal readers and commenters, if only to break up a bit of the monotony around here. Enjoy, my droogies.

In The Name Of Science

I once made a game of watching other's faces,

Not only to see if they were happy or sad;

But also for me to learn their intentions,

And find out if they planned to do good or be bad.

*

So imagine my joy as I watched you get strapped in,

Our latest young patient with the clamps in his eyes,

One selfish fool tied to this new procedure,

Who believed this treatment was a shiny toy prize.

*

How quickly you found yourself badly mistaken,

Your strange, sickly feelings just grew worse and worse,

You thought we were giving you films as a present,

But how fast did this blessing turn into a curse?

*

It's time for your games to make you want to throw up,

It's time for your fun to cause you nothing but pain,

It's time that you paid for all your past exploits,

And the most that you lose is the most that we gain.

*

It's strange that a liar could not spot his own kind,

Especially you, Mr. 'Alex The Large'.

Don't bother screaming, your begging won't stop this

We're in control, and you're no longer in charge.

*

Too bad you did not think things through more clearly,

Too bad you did not learn the meaning of sin.

You should have thought twice before signing yourself up

Or you might have not felt this miserable, then.

*

Do you really think you'll take back what you gave us,

When you misused it too many times in the past?

You've wasted your will on criminal actions,

So now lose it forever, it's left you at last.

*

You thought that this world would go on spoiling you,

Yet here we are, making you pay for your sins.

There's nowhere for you to run or to hide now,

It's time to grow up and take our medicine.
