Of course she would say something stupid in front of Steve again. Emily sure does have a way of accidentally saying things out loud. It usually was not a big deal when it happened. Most of the avengers found her to be funny and charming. Even when her slip ups were not exactly 'work appropriate'. Tony Stark never had a way of being work appropriate before Emily started interning with him, and he sure was not going to start now. They would joke regularly about anything that crossed their minds. It would range from a Disney movie to a line from The Hangover. This was her personality with all of the avengers. Well, all except for one.

Steve was the different story. It was not anything that he did. It was that she was growing feelings for him. He was tall, handsome, and the most polite gentleman that she had ever met. Whenever she was working late at the tower, Steve offered to walk her home so that she did not have to walk alone in the dark. He would pay her cab fair if he was not able to find someone to walk her when he was busy. One time he even paid for her lunch because he overheard her talking to Natasha about money troubles she was facing. He was so polite and proper. She had never heard him curse or say anything slightly sexual before. This, was the reason she was sure that he would be as mortified as she was.

"Hey Emily, I'm grabbing a coffee. Would you like one?" Steve asked as he stood up from the chair. She did not grace him with words but better a nod.

"How would you like it? I usually take mine black," He asked her trying to entice words from her. He enjoyed hearing her sweet voice fill his ears. She was not talking much today and he hoped that he could hear it just once while he was at the tower today.

He was not expecting her reply however, "Just like I like my men". She looked up startled as soon as the words left her lips. He could tell that she had not actually meant to say that out loud. She started to apologize when Steve told her that it was okay. He encouraged her that she is aloud to joke around with him just like she does with everyone else.

"You are just always such a gentleman, you have never even said 'damn' in front of me before!" She explained. Steve went on to tell her how he was raised to treat all women with the upmost respect at all times. That was why he never used that sort of language or profanity in front of her. He than told her about how it was okay for her to be that way around him. He did not want her to change any part of her personality on the sole purpose that it might offend him. He was a big boy and he can take a sex joke every now and then.

He left after that to grab them both coffee. His black and hers with cream and sugar.

Their conversation left things unchanged however. She still censored herself around him and he was still a complete gentleman around her.

Maybe one day they will both see that the other wanted more than just a friendship.
