The blows landed heavily again and again. He raised an arm to shield his head from the savage fists.

Doomsday saw a target it didn't concern him that this man had obligations to fill on a day- to -day basis. Superman had never felt this kind of pain, had never seen the blood from so many open wounds on his body.

The creature stormed forward with his cinder block fist raised, ready to finish the fight. Superman stepped forward and with the weight of the world on his shoulders he launched his attack.

The face of the creature seemed to alter with every blow from Lex Luthor to Brainiac to Metallo the Man of Steel vented his anger on this being that dared to destroy his beloved city, attack his friends, kill innocent people.

From high above the press helicopters recorded every moment, the military choppers observed every movement ready to take up the slack if the inconceivable ever happened.

Those not fleeing the devastation stood and watched as their hero fought for them. They cheered every blow from their champion and they winced with anguish when Doomsday retaliated.

In a moment it was all over. The world thought of Superman as indestructible but this creature who had previously not been known to them had taken the Man of Steel to the limit and had ended his precious life.

The world was never going to be the same again.
