BWinner's Note: I wrote this to share with the Undertaker fan club on . Originally it was supposed to be part of an art collaboration combining this with a drawing one of the other members was going to do. Sadly that never really happened. I wrote this when I was writing the other two poems on this site, but kept it off the internet for a long while to see where the collaboration was going. This is in villanelle format, and I think that older style best suited the mood that I was trying to capture. Also, finally, while I know we don't really know why Undertaker left his duty as a Shinigami, I took artistic liscence and blended the anime with the manga a little.
Undertaker is copyright to Yana Toboso, and I do not profit from this piece.
Guarded Secret - Sacred Treasure
Jolt in the chest; he swung the ancient scythe,
Glistening treasure held between grit teeth,
Warning came in rare viridescent eyes.
With a snap-glasses gone; let that part die,
Certainly no time to wallow in grief,
Jolt in the chest; he swung the ancient scythe.
Their rules he could no longer justify,
Yet one hand constantly gripped a worn sheath,
Warning came in rare viridescent eyes.
Not letting go with a "final" good-bye,
Placed around his hips an ornate motif,
Jolt in his chest; he swung the ancient scythe.
The yearn for laughter he didn't deny,
Poor souls fallen victim to false relief,
Warning came in rare viridescent eyes.
He released from those lips a hungry sigh,
Darkness covered, tonight escaped a thief,
Jolt to the chest; he swung the ancient scythe,
Warning came in rare viridescent eyes.
Final A/N: "viridescent" is an old Latin word that means bright green, I used it so I could get the syllable count I needed for the villanelle format.
