Chapter 1: Awaken

Wake up…

Wake up…

NOW…

"GAH", "What in the hell was that?", He exclaimed, "Wait, where am I?" He looked around and saw nothing but… space? He was confused but more than that curious. He got up from his laying position determined to know where he was. "Hello, anyone here or am I all alone!?", He yelled out. "Great I am really alone, and I have no idea what this place is.", He thought to himself. He attempted to remember the last thing that happened… nothing. "This keeps getting worse but the minute, I hate my luck.", he said aloud. A loud stinging static noise rang out through the area startling the teen. "I need to shut up or whatever made that noise is going to find me". He scowled, knowing that now was the time he had to be as sneaky as ever.

"Hello, can you hear me?" A strange voice echoed.

"What was that static and also who are you and what do you want?"

"That is not for you to know now but I need your help. I know it's sudden, but do you trust me?"

"Trust you? I don't even know you and you won't tell me who you are."

"You will need to trust me in order to survive the hardships ahead of you. I will contact you in dreams and help you along your path, otherwise you are on your own. So, do you trust me?"

"Do I get a choice of doing this?"

"No."

"Well, then I guess I'll have to trust you, but please tell me who you are."

A distant rumbling sounded in the distance.

"I'm sorry I have run out of time. Thank you for trusting me. Good luck on your journey."

"Wait please answer my question."

"I'm sorry, I can't. Goodbye."

"Hold…" He was then cut off and sent spiraling into the abyss beneath him.

He was falling. There was nothing beneath him. It was an infinite abyss. "Why am I falling. I don't want to keep falling. My head it hurts. My body is breaking. It's too much." "MAKE IT STOP!", He screamed. He blacked out right after.

"Alright, today's the day I become an apprentice at the guild.", the rockruff thought gleefully to herself. She walked up and towards the entrance to the guild. The guild had some extremely tall walls as well as a massive gate that as of that moment loomed over her. She stopped in front of the gate and froze. She knew she had to knock on the gate and state her business and so forth but that was what always scared her. She hesitantly knocked on the gate and a booming voice came from the other side. "State your business and who you are before I let you in." He got no response, so he peeked through the gate and saw nothing at all. "Huh, I swear I heard someone knock. Whatever." And with that he slammed the gate shut.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid." She thought as she hit her head with her paw. "I'll never be able to become an apprentice, I'm just to skittish." She walked to towards the lake. The lake was the one place that she really felt that she belonged. There was nothing around her, no one to tease her and it was just plain peaceful. "This spot is always so refreshing to visit." She internally sighed. She had always wished something exiting would happen to her, but she knew it would never happen, but as if on que she saw a flash of purple light appear to the left of her. She ran towards it, even when not knowing what it was and gasped at what she saw. She saw a buizel with loads of scratch marks covering his whole body. The only thing strange was that his scarf which was like 3 times the length of his body was undamaged. "Hey, wake up.", she yelled in its ear. Her only response was a groan. He was waking up.

"…ake up." Was yelled into his ear. He groaned as he felt many small pains lingering throughout his body. He sat up quickly scaring the dog-like creature. "Where am I." He said quietly. He knew he scared the thing, so he didn't want to do it again. He knew he was weak, and he also knew he'd probably get even more hurt fighting this creature.

"Y-You're at crystal lake." It replied meekly.

"Sorry if I scared you. I'm not trying to honest. I just needed know where I was." He replied with a smile.

"I'm sorry I'm just very skittish."

"It's fine but do you think you could help me up?" He asked after he tried to get up only to fall back down due to the pain.

"Yes, I can, and I should probably take you to the guild in the morning so you can get back to your home."

"I may have an issue with that because I don't know."

"What do you mean you don't know."

"I can't remember anything other than that my name is Torren."

"Can't you just say the ocean. That's where all buizel come from."

"Ok… Wait what did you say I was. I'm telling you right now I'm not that."

"What were you then?"

"A human."

"I don't believe that for a second especially considering that you aren't freaking out. Not to be rude but your acting the opposite of how I would in a situation like that."

"I don't know why but I'm starving, and I feel like I'm about to pass out." His scarf glowed for a bright second at the mention of being hungry. He noticed but thankfully she didn't.

"You ok there?"

"Yea I just was thinking but you still need to tell me your name." Torren replied with a smirk.

"The name's Xenia and it's started with an X not a Z got it?"

"Got it."

Xenia started to walk away and beckoned for him to follow her. They walked into a town with Torren constantly adjusting his scarf which was continuing to trip him up. The strange thing about it was that once they reached the outskirts of town Torren checked the scarf to see it was perfectly clean even after he dragged it on the ground. What they didn't know was that two suspicious individuals were watching them.

"We are almost to my home just make sure no one follows us Torren."

"OK."

"Well, well, well what do we have here the skitty and her buizel friend taking a walk through the forest all alone."

"What do you want from us Zorua?" Xenia asked.

"We want that one's scarf and your gemstone so…"

Suddenly Torren felt the scarf ripped from his neck and Xenia felt the bag being looted of her gemstone.

"Yungoose give those back now!" Xenia scowled.

"We'll give them back if you can catch us." Both the thieves said in unison.

"Xenia lets go get our stuff back I feel awkward without my scarf. I don't know why but I feel as if that scarf was keeping some sort of pressure down."

"Ok, but if you feel unable to fight just say so."

"Alright."

They reached the entrance to what Xenia called Pearl Caverns and headed in. There were large amounts of a Pokémon called Carbink which were very resistant towards Xenia's attacks while Torren continued to dodge and attempt to use his own attacks. "This is useless. Why can't I just use an attack and why does my head hurt so bad." He thought. His thoughts flared and intensified. He shut his eyes to open them a second later glowing blue and one clear voice raced through his head "Psychic". All the Carbink started to float in the air causing Xenia to jump back in surprise. She looked over at Torren and saw him using Psychic? "Buizels can't use psychic. How is he using psychic?" While she watched in awe, Torren flung all the Carbink in the area into one single point in a wall and smashed a hole in it as well as knocking all the Carbink out. His eyes continued to glow as they walked into the hole and saw the zorua and yungoose looking at a purple glowing scarf. They noticed the pair walk in and jumped back with a yelp.

"Hey, Zorua we want our stuff back please, and why is the scarf glowing?"

"I have no idea. It just started glowing a few minutes ago and no we will not give your stuff back. Also, buizel are you going to speak or are you letting her do all the talking."

The buizel though wasn't even listening. Something was stirring in his head spreading corrupt thoughts and messages. It was painful but one thing ran clear to him from all his thoughts. "Get the scarf…" He fell to his knees holding his head with his paws trying to suppress the horrid words breaking his mind apart.

"Hey, you may want to look at the pain your partners in right now." The yungoose said.

"What?" She turned around to see her friend on his knees clutching the sides of his head looking like he was in extreme pain. "Torren, are you alright?" He could hear her but couldn't respond as his teeth were clenched together from the pain. He was about to nod when his vision darkened, and he fell backwards. He blacked out.

He woke up. His scarf was with him again. It didn't feel normal though it made him feel cold, alone and tired. His walked over to a pool of water he saw and looked in it. His eyes were glowing but not the blue they were when he used psychic. They were glowing red and purple. They looked distorted. He then saw his scarf glowing with the same energy. "What is this?"

"It's your own personal ability Chaos Breaker."

"What's that and what does it do?"

"Not questioning this time? Thank you. In a seriousness though this ability lets you come to this area in an asleep of unconscious state and manipulate the malice residing in others called Chaos. When you manipulate it, you absorb it and shape it into using your own abilities. When absorb enough chaos energy you may gain a new attack or make ones stronger. You have no choice over what it does, but it will help you. You should only absorb chaos energy when you have the scarf as it is stored there. If you decide to without the scarf, you'll go on a rampage. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes, so that means the Psychic attack was attained because I absorbed some chaos energy."

"Yes, it was and right now you are absorbing the energy of those two thieves. As well as learning a new attack unlike the other one unique to only you called "shadow rain." You need to get back to your friend though. She's having a hard time fighting those two off. Goodbye."

"Bye then."

He shot up from the ground and saw Xenia fighting the two Pokémon. She was losing, badly. He got up and rushed past a startled Xenia and into the face of the dark and normal type and screamed "SHADOW RAIN." Almost the instant he said that shadows started pelting the three Pokémon, but Torren was the only one unaffected. The two others started screaming in pain and passed out mere seconds later. Once the rain ended, they saw the damage Torren had caused. He had caused the ground in the room to become scorched black and full of a water like shadow on the floor. He looked behind himself and saw his scarf on the floor glowing with chaos energy which was starting to dissipate. He picked it up and wrapped it back around his neck. He turned to the left and looked into the eyes of Xenia who ran up to him and checked him for any injuries.

"You're completely fine. There's not a scratch on you. How did you do all of that."

"I have no idea I guess it just came to me. I am injured though it may not be on the outside, but I have an internal injury that I need to rest over."

"What?! Is it bad? Do you need me to help you walk? Anything?" She replied with a scared tone in her voice.

"I'll be fine it's just an internal trauma from forcing my body to move like that."

"Alright, if you say so."

They started their trek back to the house. It took twice as long as it should have because of the Torren's constant fumbling. Xenia had been watching him move around and continued getting more and more concerned over his condition. They finally managed to reach the small cave that Xenia used as a home and went inside. There was a lamp hanging in the ceiling as well as one bed sitting in the center of the room. At least he assumed it was the bed. It was made of straw, so he just assumed. He decided to go to bed and went up to a wall and sat down next to it and started to dose off. Xenia turned around to see him sitting against the wall and sighed. She had wanted him to sleep in the bed, but he looked like he was comfortable. She climbed into her bed took one last look at the buizel and dozed off.

"Torren… can you hear me?"

"Uhh… can I just get some sleep please."

"No."

"That wasn't a question but fine what do you want?"

"I need to tell you of another ability you have."

"So, I have two now."

"Exactly but you have to be careful with this one as it can be extremely dangerous at times."

"Alright, fill me in."

"This ability is called "Awakening", and it works like it sounds. Once you stand on the verge of death or one of your emotions gets to out of control you Awaken. If you are on the verge of death you become extremely powerful meaning you can hit speeds even legendries are unable to reach as well as uncontrollable amounts of raw power. For the emotion part, it depends. Each emotion will variably change how you awaken. Once you awaken, the emotion you had awoken from will become unstable making you capable of only feeling that emotion. And before you ask, I really do mean ANY emotion. Understood?"

"Understood."

"Good now it's time you woke up good luck with the guild today."

"Wait guild? What do you me…"? He was cut off by being sent into the spiraling abyss again.

He woke up. He felt a little dizzy after that dream but decided to keep it a secret from Xenia because he didn't want her to worry. He got up and looked at her creating some kid of food. He didn't know what it was, but he didn't care. He was starving and would probably eat just about anything. Xenia turned around and noticed his stare and asked, "You hungry yet?" He nodded and walked over to where the pile of fruit was. He sat down and started to eat a pecha berry. They finished breakfast and Torren decided he had been too much a burden on the rockruff by putting her in danger and eating a lot of her food.

"Hey Xenia."

"Yea what's up?"

"I decided I'm going to head out on my own now."

"Ok… WAIT WHAT?!"

"Oww my ears, do you have to be so loud?"

"Sorry but you can't leave. You have no idea where you are or even really how to fight all that well."

"I can fight."

"Only when that scarf helps you."

"Right… but that doesn't mean I can try."

"Ok, then let's make a deal. You come with me to the guild and we find you help there, or I can force you to come with me. What'll it be?"

"….. Fine… I'll go with you. Just don't get pushy with me I'm still sore from yesterday.

"Ok."

With that out of the way they head off and away towards the guild (Usually taking backwards glances to make sure they don't get robbed again). It took them a decent amount of time still because Torren still had a small limp but eventually, they made it to the village the guild was in. Torren noticed that Xenia had started to get nervous mainly because of how much she was shaking. He decided not to bother her about it and let her get over it. One thing was bothering him about it though. He didn't know why she was so nervous about going to the guild. She seemed so excited to go when they woke up. He decided that instead of asking why she was so nervous he would ask about the guilds.

"Hey, what do these guilds do anyways?"

"Oh, they are actually called exploration guilds and they have exploration teams that go around exploring mystery dungeons, helping other Pokémon and stuff like that. The one we are going to is owned by Guildmaster Archeops."

"Sounds like a cool place to visit but anyways let's continue moving forward."

Torren was relieved to have settled her nerves a bit before they got to the gate that loomed above them, but he couldn't help but feel intimidated by it either. He continued to walk towards the gate when he noticed Xenia had stopped walking and stared at the gate as if she were paralyzed. He internally signed and walked back over to her. He grabbed her by the ear and snapped her out of her trance. She knew that was a stupid thing to do stopping there but still gave him a death glare for grabbing her ear. She froze when she looked at his eyes, they were pink and not the normal grey color they usually were. She stopped thinking about it and followed him to the gate. Torren knocked on it and they waited.

"State your business and who you are before I let you in." The voice boomed causing both small Pokémon to jump in surprise.

Torren slowly responded, "My name is Torren and my friend's name is Xenia and we are here to seek help from the guildmaster."

"Alright, thank you. You can come on in now." After the voice responded the gate slowly crept open enough for Xenia and Torren to go inside. The duo slowly walked forward and towards the open gate. A bright light came from the other side and they both exchanged a glance before they walked inside completely amazed on what was on the other side.
