Moments together lately just seemed to consist of attempts to hear their baby's heartsong, since they were both almost postive that she was pregnant. One day, she'd just woken up feeling a bit different than usual, and Luka had rested his head on her stomach though she wasn't far enough along then to even get a kick or two. He'd rested there awhile, arms around her waist as they both had only hope that she just might be pregnant.

The kiss that he'd left on her stomach before he got up, warmed her heart up, and Marinette could only smile as she watched her husband now move about a bit more. Just a few weeks later, they prepared for her to finally take a pregnancy test after she'd missed a period and even the earliest twinges of morning sickness set in, and watching that test, hands squeezed tight together, and nervous, felt all too real. What if they'd been wrong that may be she'd gotten pregnant a few weeks ago, based off a guess, and wishful thinking and deep seated hope? What if new life wasn't growing within her, to eventually look like his or her parents? What if they'd been wrong?

Fingers turned nearly white from how hard they squeezed the other's hand as finally a little pink plus appeared and worry melted into excited joy. How could they not be happy? How could they not be celebrating when finally their hopes were confirmed in such a simple way?
Entwined hands faded to Marinette being lifted up and held close to her husband, close enough to just listen to his racing heartbeat, close enough to feel his breath run through her hair. "I can't wait." Luka's voice is whisper soft as he finally sets her down and kneels before her to just rest his head on her tummy, "I wonder what his heartsong will sound like?" It's just a little question, but it lights up a curiosity in Marinette that will have to wait for an answer on another day.

"I wonder too." Marinette murmured, laying her hand in her husband's hair as if to keep him close, close enough to just be together. Every moment could be a whole new moment, a new aspect to reality, a new sign of the life blooming inside of her, growing each and every day.

"I love you, Marinette." Luka murmurs against her belly, "And I love you too, Little One." Marinette can't help but smile at just that thought, those spoken words, and just how beautiful and perfect they sound together. One day, 'Little One' will have a name all his or her own, and Little One would just be a nickname for the quiet moments in between.

"I love you too," Marinette can't help how radiant her smile seems for a moment, "both of you."

One day soon, they'll know his or her heartsong, and they'll be able to be there with their baby through the good, the bad, and the ugly, and they couldn't wait, not as love bloomed in their hearts for a new life that they didn't yet have a name for. Already, they loved their baby and looked forward to nine months leading into a bright new future and a little baby to bring home from the hospital and raise. One day soon, hope will finally have built itself up into a wonderful and endearing reality, a chance to just be able to do their best for a child that already feels like the best blessing to come to their marriage, and just to think that eventually, they'll be able to look into little eyes and listen to the heartsong of their baby that will rest comfortably in their arms.

Nine months would seem like a long time, but they've had to wait longer before for this moment, and time might just flew by in the hustle and bustle of their steady growing excitement and pure joy over Marinette's pregnancy.
