Blaine Anderson stood in front of the bulletin board at McKinley High School, staring at the assortment of flyers, sign-up sheets, and posters. He was wearing a forest green polo and dark brown pants, with a navy backback slung over his shoulder. His perfectly trimmed, curly hair was gelled intricately on top of his head, shining in the fluorescent light of the hallway. In his left hand, he was holding a folder full of homeroom materials and a few scraps of graded homework leftover from his time at Dalton Academy. In his right hand, he was clutching a mechanical pencil.
His big, brown eyes searched the bulletin board. There seemed to be a sign-up sheet for everything. Cheerios auditions, chess club, the debate team, football. 'There seems to be something for everyone,' he noticed as his triangular eyebrows raised in amusement. But it was only after searching the board twice did he actually find what he was looking for.
The small sign-up sheet for Glee Club was near the bottom, almost completely covered up by a huge poster for the Cheerios. He pushed away the poster and stared at the list, seeing the names of those who had signed up early.
Rachel Berry was elegantly penned at the top in purple ink, with a small star sticker placed next to it. Blaine laughed as he reminisced over the drunken party at her house during their Junior year. Little did he know that he would wake up the next morning in Kurt Hummel's bed with the worst – and first – hangover he'd ever experienced in his life.
Mercedes Jones was on the second line, succeeded by Sam Evans. Next was Kurt's small signature (Blaine's heart gave a small leap as he saw the familiar handwriting), then Artie Abrams and a sloppy scribble that looked like it said Puck. The fifth line was empty.
Blaine was surprised at how fast the veteran Glee Club members had signed up, but he wasn't surprised at who had signed up so early. Rachel would have been the first, of course. And Mercedes enjoyed Glee Club more than anyone else, except for Rachel. Sam would have signed up with Mercedes because Blaine had the strange notion that they would be together a lot during Senior year, especially after seeing them together in a coffee shop right after the club got back from Nationals. Kurt was probably with Mercedes, with a smug look on his face that said I'm Kurt Hummel, and I am so glad to be here and you should be happy I'm here too because we all know I am the Patti LuPone of Glee Club, not Rachel Berry. Then Artie would have probably wheeled up with Noah Puckerman on their way to Calculus.
The mechanical pencil in his hand automatically made its way to the board. Of course he would join Glee Club! Not only did he love being a Warbler at Dalton, but he also had been nagged at every opportunity by Kurt and Finn over the summer to join, even after he promised them that he would sign up the first day he could.
The pencil landed on the fifth line of the sign-up sheet and he wrote carefully:
Blaine Anderson
He pulled away the pencil and smiled. He turned on his heel and headed down the hallway toward English, not even seeing the large football player in front of him holding a large, red slushie cup.
"Welcome to Glee Club, Mrs. Hummel!" the monster said, and slung the icy cold liquid into Blaine's face, stinging his eyes and soaking his gelled, curly hair and triangular eyebrows.
glee
I hope that was enjoyable :) the thought just came to me one day, even though I know someone else probably had a similar idea.
I know that Sam will not be in Season 3 this fall (I know, it's sad...), but I won't write that out since it's so minor to this little fanfic.
Review please! :D
