He chose the right path

Saya Minatsuki gazed at the clear pond. The pond where the dead could see the world of the living.

Train Heartnet's face rippled in the water. He seemed to be enjoying himself despite the fact he was only eating bread crusts. No. Not bread crusts. Fried bread crusts. Big difference there.

The green-haired smoker, Swan Vulture or something like that, shoved a paper in Train's face. Their next catch.

He's a sweeper now.

The thought made Saya's heart feel warm and happy. Train was a sweeper. Just like she was when she lived.

The small blonde girl, Eve, muttered something Saya couldn't hear. Her voice was always quiet. Unless she was yelling at Train. Still not the loudest yell.

A waitress came by, more fried bread crusts in her hands. Swan Vulture spewed coffee out of his mouth when he saw her. The waitress spat furious insults at him and forgot to give Train the fried bread crusts.

Train was talking to Eve. Saya guessed they were arguing.

"Look Princess, you can't possibly catch this guy yourself," Train was saying. "I'll go myself while you read your little bookies with Sven."

Oh. His name was Sven. Not Swan. Sven Vulture? Whatever.

Eve narrowed her eyes. She demanded a competition between her and Train. Again. Like the one when they tried to catch Igor Planter.

Train didn't argue anymore. He just stuffed fried bread crusts in his mouth and gulped down some milk Saya didn't notice before.

Ah yes. Milk. Like when Saya first met Train.

She had been singing her usual lullaby on the rooftops at night. Then she had noticed Train. With some milk.

He looked a little creepy. But that was okay. Saya and Train had seen each others on the rooftops ever since she stole his milk.

Then she died.

Saya had invited Train to a festival, as well as telling him to buy her ramune. He agreed, but was a little late to meet her at the arranged spot.

Because he was late, Saya was killed by Creed Diskenth. Now she was floating around watching Train's life in a pond.

Saya didn't hate Creed for killing her. She didn't hate anyone.

"Um...Saya?" An old spirit knelt down on the edge of the pond. "May I use this pond? I wish to check on my family."

Saya nodded, giving permission to the spirit. She smiled as she watched Train Heartnet's face slowly melt away to be replaced by a group of grinning people.

Saya sighed. She glanced up at the rooftops of the houses in the land of the dead. She grinned and leaped on top of the houses.

Sing a song onto the world,
Rising high the clouds unfurl,
Gazing at the twilight's sky,
Broken by a newborn's cry,
Changes from the smallest things,
Gazing at an angel's wings,
Fall down, fall down, falls the rain,
My life's not in vain,

Light and bouncy in the wind,
Sing a song unto the world,
Rising high, the cluds unfurl,
Fan the flames into the past,
Here, now, our lives will last,
We'll never know the times of pain,
Fall down fall down falls the rain,
My life won't be plain

Light and bouncy in the wind,
Sings a song unto the world,
Fall down, fall down, falls the rain,
My life won't be plain

Just to tell you, this is a one-shot. And for those of you who don't know this, the song at the end of this story is the Song of Saya. The song she sings on the rooftops.

Sorry that this story is kinda short. Heh.
