Little Bird

Disclaimer: Not mine. But if Disney ever changes their minds, they know where to find me. They're always watching...
Summary: Snyder being creepy about Jack. Could be interpreted as slashy because, well, it pretty much is. Creepy slashy Snyder. That's about it, really.

All you did was steal a bit of bread to keep your body from wasting away. You should have come and gone. It is, after all, a minor offense. Still, I marked every act you did and twisted it into some evil to make you stay.
I don't know why I persisted in extending your stay. All you ever were was a handful and a nuisance. I never followed any other boy's activities so doggedly, but you aren't like any other boy. You are beautiful, passionate, free. You are like a wild and exotic bird on the wing, and I am determined to pluck your feathers and keep you in a little cage. You will sing for only me, Sullivan. Only me.
But you betrayed me. You cracked the bars and flew away, leaving only a few perfectly formed feathers in your wake. I became a hunter, driven and relentless. I eye each new boy critically, and I hate them all for not being you. None of them have your spark, your passion. Not one could fly, even if he wanted to.
Was it really so awful here, Sullivan, that you had to take flight? I kept you clothed. I kept you bathed. I kept you fed with more bread than you could ever steal. I would never let your body, your beautiful, perfect body, waste away. I know you may have seen my actions as cruelty, but I always favored you. All the other ruffians saw it. Did you not wonder why none of them ever touched you, ever gave you anything but utmost respect? You were still young and not nearly as charismatic. Oh, how charming you are now, my bird! How you fly!
I have seen you preen and strut about your new roost, but I will not be so foolish as to act rashly again. I will wait. I am the hunter, hoping to ensnare a rare breed of perfection. I will find you again, little bird. I will keep you in a gilded cage, and you will sing for only me.

Author's Note: It always struck me as odd that Snyder is so obsessed about catching Jack in particular. Then during the scene where he's eating dinner and just staring at Jack's picture, this struck me. It is simply beyond wrong, and I am sorry for any mental trauma that this has caused. Review anyway?
