Disclaimer: I don't own a thing here I'm afraid.

People were dying. Grown men were breaking down into tears as their wives were screaming in pain. Betrayals, torture, murder, rape, mistrust coloured everything. But they didn't care. For a few precious moments, they had forgotten.

They had forgotten everything the moment one had dragged the other into his arms, murmuring inaudible things under his breath.

They had forgotten everything the moment they began to slow dance, right in the midst of this brutal war.

They had forgotten everything as they enclosed each other in warmth and love that overlooked everything for a few moments.

And then - too soon - the music ended and they remembered again.

One hugged the other tightly, too tightly almost, as his head spun in confusion and mistrust and love. But he couldn't feel his lover in his arms even as he held the other fiercely.

A moment later they broke apart, awkwardly avoiding each others' eyes.

'I love you,' one said, voice cracking slightly.

The other nodded, and left.

AN: written with Sirius and Remus around Halloween 1981 in mind but can really be interpreted anyway you like. Written for the Music Genre Challenge, I got the song 'Slowdancing in a Burning Room' by John Mayer. Please leave a review!
