Lex Luthor had never once fancied himself a feminist. Neither had he fancied himself a sexist, however. Quite to the contrary he viewed all people as resources to be tapped, or obstacles to be overcome before he actually viewed them as people. It was a habit he had picked up when he was starting out in the business world, and it had served him well.
And yet he could not help but feel a profound sense of anger when he saw Tala the Sorceress bowing in subservience to a Lower Primate. Oh certainly on the logical level Gorilla Grodd was perfectly intelligent, and indeed very intelligent. He would have had to be to keep control of his Legion of Doom this long.
Even so, Lex Luthor had always believed that human history was a tale of continued progress in a very general sense, once you got past the idiots. Humans had triumphed over Gorilla's and Apes, and Chimpanzee's because humans had been smarter. Just being physically frail had not stopped humanity from becoming one of the most numerous and powerful species on the planet. Even Grodd's variety of Gorilla had never amounted to anything more than an isolated and technologically advanced society of overly proud Primates. Ones whom would soon awaken from their prideful slumber, and find themselves in a greater nightmare.
But this was all beside the point. The point was, Tala was fawning and submitting openly before this Lower Primate, and enjoying it, and Grodd was clearly enjoying it to. They were making a fetish of humanity's glory.
It was frankly disgusting, and Lex scarcely refrained from saying as such.
Lex suddenly had the urge to shoot Grodd in the head. He took that urge and tucked it away into a mental file labeled 'wait for the opportune moment.' Grodd couldn't keep the Legion of Doom in perfect working order forever. He couldn't always label the failures as out of his hands. Sooner or later he'd make a mistake.
And when he did…

Authors note:
Well here it is, my first Justice League Fanfic. I'm a longtime fan of the show, and with all it's crowning moments of awesome, and badassery, the scenes I most remember are the Legion of Doom subplot. Thus this fanfic was born. A series of vignettes dealing with the perspectives of Grodd and Lex Luthor on various subjects. I may jump around with continuity a bit.
For today, I elaborate a bit on Lex Luthor's motive for overthrowing Grodd. I doubt he'd take that kind of action on a whim, and just pretend he planned it. I've always been a fan of Lex Luthor in this arc, since he manages to go from back to square one, to a badass near Batman's level in thirteen episodes or so.
