"Sara wait!"
But she didn't hear him as she walked out of the building into the rain. She stop when she got to the middle of the parking lot. She wanted to scream she wanted to hit something or someone. She wanted to do something to get the anger out. She just stood there with her hands clenched at her sides and her eyes closed with her head tilted up taking deep breaths as the rain cool her warm face.
She jumped when she felt a warm hand on her shoulder. She knew who it was without turning around. The warmth from his hand seemed to burn her cool wet skin.
"Sara?" he said still with his hand on her shoulder but dropped it back to his said when he heard her hiss "leave me alone"
"Sara I just-"she cut him off "please Grissom just leave me alone"
"No. I wont, I want to know what wrong"
"What do you care?" she hissed again
"I do care Sara more than you know"
She scoffed and spun around to face him "That's the problem Grissom I don't know you care!" she yelled "you have never ever showed that you cared about me not once so how am I supposed to know you care about whata wrong huh?!"
"I don't know!" he yelled back but it didn't phase her.
She shook her head "You said you'd always be there for me.. but your not" she said as she started to walk away from him.
"I'm sorry" he said quickly
Sara stopped in her tracks and turn around "What did you say?"
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for every thing" he stepped toward her "please don't go Sara I. I need you Sara please."
"What. you need me? I thought that lab needed me" he looked away from her.
He flinched at her words "It does.I do" he looked at her.
She walked up to him and leaned into him. At first Grissom thought she was going to kiss him but she moved to his ear and whispered "Grissom.Your way too late"
She pulled away from him and looked into his eyes as a tear trickled down her check. "Way too late" she repeated as she turned and walked away.
He watched her walk away then shouted to her "Is tomorrow too early?"
She spins around, "Too early for what?"
He looks at the ground and shakes his head, "Too early to call you and offer you a job?"
Grissom tries a small smile, but Sara's look smolders it into nothing.
"You already tried that," she said, "It worked."
"No, it didn't." he said, and the pain that was eating him away started to show in his face. "Will you still be in Vegas?" he asked, afraid of the hope that sounded in his own voice.
Sara nodded looked like a wary dog, ready to snap, hesitant to agree to anything.
"Good," he said, "Then I'm not giving up."
As she started to walk away again he heard her mutter a "whatever"
