Father.
I never really knew you.
Never got the chance to.
You never existed to me until I was soon to become a man.
You were my enemy, you killed the only family I knew then, you killed a friend of mine, you tried to kill me.
When I learned, when I was told who you were, I couldn't believe it, didn't want to believe it.
Then, when I learned, when I was taught and told of what I was, you wanted to turn me into you, you wanted to make me, change me into what you were.
I refused you, refused to turn into what you were, when I did so, you were told to, commanded to kill me.
We fought, our weapons clashed again and again until I had beaten you.
I didn't kill you, couldn't kill you. I threw down my weapon, refusing to fight you any longer.
Soon, your master, a person who you never crossed attacked me, slowly destroying me.
For the first time, you had disobeyed your master, the one you obeyed and served to your highest potential.
You stopped him from destroying me, you, my father, killed your master, saving me.
But with the cost of your own life.
Before you died, before you left me, I got to see the real you, and you to see me with your own eyes.
There, with me beside you, you died, leaving me and my newly found sister with just each other.
Now Father, when I think of you, I think of you not as the evil monster you were introduced to me as, but as my Father. My father who saved me, my Father who gave his life for me.
Now I follow in the footsteps which you should have taken. I now lead the life of a Jedi, searching for candidates for a new Jedi Order whom will protect the galaxy once again from the evil that forms within it as you would have.
I, Luke Skywalker, shall always remember you as Anakin Skywalker and not as the terror you were when you were Darth Vader.
