BADLY BROKEN
by ardavenport
*** Heh heh heh heh hehehehe! ***
Is this supposed to be better?
The dark warehouse ceiling high above seemed to recede from Walter White, drawing the life out of him into the darkness as his blood flowed down and spread out onto the meth lab's cold cement floor. Blackness closed in around his last outraged thoughts.
I didn't ask for this! I just wish I'd ended it with Gretchen! I didn't want to hurt Skyler! And Elliot! This is worse!
*** Your wish was my command. Heh heh heh heh! You left Getchen and everything connected to her when you were young. A clean break. That is what you asked for. ***
From Gretchen! Not from my whole life!
*** But your son is alive and whole. So is Elliot. True they are wounded by your actions. But they are actually stronger for it. Even Skyler, to a degree. And you have a daughter. ***
They're afraid of me. THEY HATE ME!
The chill closed in, the floor hard and unyielding under him. He could not move or feel his limbs.
*** You didn't worry about being liked before. Not when you cut Elliot out of your business. Or cut your son off. Or when you divorced Skyler. Or Gretchen. ***
But I wouldn't have done these things! Cooked Meth! And partnered with my own son's drug dealer and the gang leaders he worked for! Not after what happened to Junior!
And killed people! I wouldn't do that!
*** But those things did not happen to your son, now. Isn't that what you wanted? And have you not killed people? Did you not blame yourself for your son's overdose. And Elliot's suicide? ***
Walter White saw the blackness above through an even blacker tunnel. There were faint sirens in the distance and faint pulses of blood red.
I didn't use bombs or guns. I didn't ask for this. You cheated me!
*** Do you want your money back from the auction house for my bottle? I warned you when you first freed me; I am a Genie. I grant people their wishes. And I give them exactly what they ask for. And that is what you have now. ***
Walter's vision failed, a nothingness beyond black. A nothingness that had come to claim him. His old life evaporated; the billion-dollar business, the large homes and fine living; the acclaim that came from start-up success; and the stereotypical personal soap operas that came from the people who envied the fruits of another person's hard work. His thoughts slid into their new reality.
Yes, this is what I asked for. I broke it off with Gretchen before I got in too deep. I have a new daughter. I have a son who will take care of Skyler.
I won.
*** Heh heh heh heh heheheh! ***
*** END ***
