A/N: I promised Suits fanfic at one point, didn't I? Anyway, Donna/Harvey are my OTP. I love them so much, separately and together. They slay me. So, after 4x15 and 4x16...
She is Donna, and she knows everything.
She knows that Harvey can't stand paperclips, prefers staples perfectly straight, half an inch down from the top of the paper. She knows how he likes his coffee and what he looks like when he hasn't had enough sleep.
Donna knows everyone's birthdays, probably everyone's middle names—if she ever needed them—and Louis's favorite breed of cat.
(Everyone knows that, of course, but still. She is Donna. It counts.)
Donna knows why she told Rachel nothing ever happened with her and Harvey, and she knows why she told Rachel the truth, though she isn't quite sure how she can know both at the same time.
Because you can never go back.
She sees Rachel's confusion again in her mind. "I though you said—"
"I lied."
She thought she was telling the truth, too, that time.
She is Donna, and she thought she knew everything.
And maybe she did. She knew he loved her. But she didn't know he'd say it, and she didn't know that it would shut her up so completely, didn't know it would bring her heartbeat to her throat.
She lied to Rachel, and then she lied again.
They never did go back after all.
