Dropsey: The Story of a Brony

Chapter 1

"Ok, almost done unpacking," I told myself. "Just one more box."

I'm Dropsey. I just moved to Equestria because I felt really rejected back at home. Everypony laughed at me because I'm not like them… mentally. I think differently in several ways. I'm just, "…an all around nerd…" as some ponies called me. I'm also not really a bright color like they are. I'm a dark brown color and my mane, tail, and eyes are all a fiery red-orange. My cutie mark isn't little butterflies or rainbows, like everyone else's. It's a guitar pick. I'm a unicorn. That means I can do magic. But I'm really bad at it. I heard there was somepony named Midnight Twinkle who could help me train.

My last box was labeled MUSIC.

I forgot to mention that I play, write, and listen to a lot of metal music. Just another reason I was laughed at back home.

I finished unpacking around 2 p.m. and decided to familiarize myself with Equestria. I had walked out the door and not but two blocks when I met somepony as she was crossing the street.

She had jade green eyes, and her fur was white, smooth, and neat. Her mane and tail matched her eyes, as did her hooves. Her cutie mark was a quill in a jar of ink, so I could only assume she was a writer. She was a pegasus. Her folded wings were beautiful and glistened in the sunlight.

She met my gaze, and I could already tell I'd met my first friend in Equestria.

"Hi," the pegasus said, introducing herself. "I'm Jade. Are you the new pony in Canterlot? I've never met anyone quite like you before."

I wasn't sure whether to take that last part as an insult or not. She certainly had a lot to say though.

"Yes, that's me. I'm Dropsey," I replied.

"Cool cutie mark, man!" she announced a little too loudly.

"Yeah, thanks. I play a lot of guitar, usually tuned to drop c."

"Oh, I get it!" she yelled once more. "Because your name's Dropsey and you play in drop c!"

"Ding ding! We have a winner!" I said in my best game show announcer voice.

We both laughed.

"So where are you off to?" the winged pony questioned.

"Well I wanted to familiarize myself with Equestria so I didn't get lost or anything like that," I answered.

"Well, I'd be more than happy to show you around," persuaded the mare.

"Sure! I could totally use a guide to show me Equestria! I think I'm lost already, anyway.

We walked for the rest of what felt like the best day ever as Jade pointed out every place in Equestria, whether relevant or not.

"…and that, right there, is Sweet Apple Acres. Most of the work is done by a pretty cool mare named Applejack. I could introduce you to her if you so desired," she offered politely.

"I don't know. Maybe tomorrow. I still have a tour of Equestria to finish, after all!"

So we kept going. We finished the trip around sunset.

"Oh, Celestia! I love watching the sun go down!" cried Jade.

"Yeah," I agreed. "Me too."

As we rounded the corner towards my house, the sunset came into perfect view. Jade slowly kept getting ever closer to me as we walked, side by side. So much, in fact, that our cutie marks were rubbing together. However, I didn't notice, as I was lost in her beautiful, jade green eyes. She flipped a few stray strands of her mane to the side of her head opposite of me, as if she knew I was staring at her, and wanted me to get a closer look.

We stopped in front of my house and I smiled weakly.

"It was really nice of you to show me around. I hope it wasn't too much trouble," I mumbled apologetically.

"Oh, not at all!" Jade assured. "I really didn't have anything else planned."

"Well, do you have plans on Saturday?" I asked.

"Are you asking me out on a date?" Jade asked.

"What made it so obvious?" I said sarcastically.

"Meet here?"

"You know it," I said.

"It's a date, then?" she asked.

"It's a date, then," I said.
