Romance PG-R Free Falling

Hyde was glad that no one was in the basement he couldn't take Forman and Donna being lovey-dovey with each other, Kelso being a moron, and Fez being a clingy best friend with 'needs'. He absolutely hated the feeling he had when he woke up this morning. He didn't feel cynical or jaded. He actually felt good that he had Jackie back in his life. How could he admit that to anyone without being the brunt of the world's jokes? How could he even admit that to himself? Jackie came in and sat on the battered couch next to him and put her head on his shoulder. She looked adorable in her burgundy colored sundress.
"Hi, Steven." She kissed him.
"Hi, Jackie." He decided to take off his sunglasses and put them on the side table.
"Looks like we have the basement all to ourselves---" She sat on his lap and started to unbutton his mint green button down shirt.
"Wait-" And he couldn't believe that he was the one who said that.
"What is it, Steven?" Jackie slid off his lap, so he could stand up.
"I don't know---I can feel it! I'm going to go soft like Forman!"
Jackie let out a small laugh. "What's this about?"
"I thought about something last night." He went over to the freezer and opened the door, he was going to take out a popsicle but he changed his mind and closed the door.
Jackie gasped thinking the worst. "Steven, you're NOT breaking up with me?"
She made it a question.
"No, babe. Remember that day when you brought in the yearbook---"
"Oh! Do you mean where Donna mooned in MY picture?"
"Yeah. Do you remember what happened that night?"
"I'd rather not think about it. I'm VERY sorry, Steven." Jackie walked up to him.
And Hyde could tell for the first time that in her life that Jackie Burkhart was actually sorry over something.
Hyde decided to reach for a popsicle after all.
"It's okay." He whispered as peeled off the wrapper to reveal an orange popsicle.
"No, it's NOT. That pot was mine. You got arrested for something that I DID. I AM SO SORRY!" She cried as she wrapped her arms around him.
"Oh-Jackie-I didn't mean to make you cry."
"My mascara's not waterproof," She tried to laugh like the old Jackie, but it wasn't just him, she was different too.
He wasn't hungry so he threw the popsicle in the trash.
"I'm NOT used to this talking stuff," Hyde admitted as he puts his hands in his pockets, "And you took the fall for me at the cabin with my stash."
"Steven! That's what people in love do." Jackie sat on the sofa and motioned for him to join her.
"I'm not used to being someone IN LOVE." Hyde sighed as he sat next to Jackie on the sofa, putting his arm around her, and feeling scared of losing someone he cared about for the first time in his life.
"Hey!" Jackie looked at her designer gold watch
"What?" Hyde asked
"Put the TV on. The Price is Right comes on in five minutes."
Hyde turned to face her and gave her a genuine smile. "Anything for you, doll."
