Found

It was dark... At least for a short while. Then the flood of a piercing white light ignited Kyle's optical sensors... He didn't understand; he wasn't sure of what was happening. When he awoke, he noticed… Medical equipment?

Was he in some kind of a hospital? What had happened? He wasn't sure. All he knew was that he was now accustomed to the brightness of the actually rather dim lights hanging down from the ceiling.

"Where am I? Anyone?"

Suddenly a face came into view, in his peripheral vision. A face he was unfamiliar with. "Hello, I'm Major General Perry. We found you in a Skynet work camp and rescued you." Good, at least the husky and low voice wasn't piercing to his currently sensitive ears.

"Perry? What's Skynet?" A few pictures flashed in his mind of metal skulls with red, glowing eyes. "Oh, God… Those things? The metal things?"

"Yes."

"And they made me work for them? Doing what?"

"Loading bodies into the incinerator units."

"Bodies?" More fragments of his memories, this time the bent, twisted and broken bodies that he had to lift onto a conveyor belt which would dump them into a raging furnace. "It was horrible…"

"So, is it coming back to you now?"

"It was… Terrifying. Why did they make us do that?"

"Come on, there's someone you need to meet."

They stepped into an adjacent room and Kyle began to tear up. At long last, he had seen his brother again. "Derek. It's you."

This was the first time the gruff man had smiled since his brother was captured by the machines. Derek gave Kyle a loving, brotherly hug and stepped back to look him over. "You look like shit."

They simply shared a laugh and headed off to speak to the Resistance leader, John Connor. Kyle had never met this man, but from what Derek had told him, he was a great leader. A burning urge for revenge lingered in Kyle's mind, and he wanted to fight for others like him; others exposed to that horrible environment.

He wanted to save humanity.

He wanted to be like his older brother, he wanted to be someone who was admirable.

*Yes, I wanted to give you guys something new since I haven't had an update on my main story in awhile, so here's a quick one shot about Derek and Kyle. Please review and be patient. I haven't been home this past week, I've been at a friend's house, and none of my files, obviously are on his computer, so I can't work on it here.
