Coexistence

There were never two people more different

At least, that's what everyone thought

But they were very much wrong

For without light, there would be no shadow

And without shadow, there would be no place to hide when things got too heavy

Light always chased the shadow

And the shadow always escaped

Never failing to reappear when the light grew weary, when night fell

And just as the shadow retreated to its corner, when day returned, bringing light

The shadow and the light would meet, just at dawn and just at sunset

And they would weave together

Not day or night

No light or shadow

Everything would just

Be

But only for a moment

Because when day and night came

One or the other would have to vanish and hide

But they never failed to come back, if just for that one moment where

Everything was halfway

An endless cycle

A game of tag

And it took other factors

A shifting in the cosmos

To let the shadow and the light

Touch

And never have to run away

A/N: Okay, I hope that wasn't complete nonsense. This was just something that I needed to get out of my head and onto a screen. I don't usually do poetry, but hey, it wanted to happen. Reviews are appreciated, and as always, stay awesome ;)
