Never Mine
He wasn't supposed to still be here in England, here in the Palace
He wasn't supposed to end up in her bed, but a guy has to do what a guy has to do
He came here with a plan
He came here with ONE goal; get them to trust him and steal the Koh-i-nor
He was supposed to play his last hand, but also play their own against them
He was supposed to be all the way in South America by now, living on a beach somewhere
He was supposed to be filthy, stinking, never have to think or worry about anything ever again rich
He was supposed to win
She was supposed to be a spoiled, bratty, over-privileged bitch
She wasn't supposed to be broken
She wasn't supposed to get under his skin
She wasn't supposed to be intoxicatingly beautiful
She wasn't supposed to be all he ever thought about
She wasn't supposed to allow him into her bed
She wasn't supposed to get into his heart
She wasn't supposed to be life changing for him
She wasn't supposed to make him want to be the best version of himself
She wasn't supposed to be his truest love
Jasper Frost planned this heist for two years; he almost couldn't believe it when he passed all of the clearances and was told that he would soon begin working in The Royal Palace. Finally, after all their preparation everything was coming together. The House of Henstridge wouldn't know what hit them. But they would survive, they would recoup their loss by the time he was sitting with his ass in the sand, drinking a bottle of Corona. He had a plan and he was going to see it through.
The Universe, on the other hand had a different plan for him entirely. Sure, he thought that she was beautiful, but he already knew that from studying pictures of her for months. Still, being with her at first made him nervous, which he hadn't anticipated. He also hadn't expected the Crowned Prince, Robert to be declared dead just before his arrival in the Palace. Consequently, his job was made more difficult from the start; security was tighter than ever, especially around the Prince and Princess. The family was heartbroken by the loss of their son and brother. England too was fractured by the loss. Princess Eleanor was a distraught mess, drinking and doing drugs more than ever, even more than her image that preceded her.
He hadn't expected to feel sorry for her, he was expecting her to be a spoiled brat, which to be honest, she can be, but most of all she's a broken spirit. The Henstridge family is just a family like any other. King Simon was first and foremost a dad, who wanted nothing more than the safety and wellbeing of his family. His children were truly the loves of his life. Jasper could at the end of the day relate to these people and their struggles. He hadn't allowed himself to believe that they had any.
He couldn't go through with it, he couldn't steal the diamond. He wasn't that guy anymore. He couldn't do that to her. The Koh-i-noor was never his to have. It belongs to the People. He wouldn't let Eleanor take the fall. He wasn't dreaming of beaches and money anymore. His dreams were filled with her and her alone; her lips, her eyes, her body. He wants everything with her and for her. James Hill had been right, she is priceless and all Jasper desires for now is to win her heart. He has a tendency to think of her as his; his Princess, but the reality is that she is her own person, her own woman, like the diamond she was never his.
